OK, none of the bills that are on the radar in the house are up for committee hearings tomorrow. Senate Bill 263 that Bill mentioned, is up in Senate committee tomorrow.

i’ll keep an eye out for the 29th, also to see what happens With Senate Bill 263 tomorrow. That one is a hard no to me.

Without looking, isn’t that one of Jim Lucas’ bills? (Senate version?)

SB 263 has the mandatory training requirement and takes it out of the hands of the local schools. Up to that point I can support it. This is the Jim Lucas bill with the poison pill amendment.

Provides that, before an employee or any other staff member of a school corporation, charter school, or nonpublic school may carry a firearm in or on school property as authorized by a school board of the school corporation, charter school, or nonpublic school, the employee or staff member shall do the following: (1) Successfully complete certain specialized weapons training.

    We've got more bills!

HB 1028 (Jim Lucas, in the House Education Committee) Firearm training for teachers. This was up last year, got a poison pill amendment in the Senate (see SB 263, I stated my non-support a few posts back, same author in 263 as the poison pill last year.) I know there are differences here among the followers of this thread on this bill, I testified in support of the bill last year and will again this year.

Creates a specialized firearms safety, education, and training curriculum (curriculum) for teachers, school staff members, and school employees. Specifies curriculum requirements. Authorizes funds from the: (1) Indiana safe schools fund; (2) Indiana secured schools fund; and (3) school corporation and charter school safety advance program; to be used for the purpose of providing specialized firearms instruction to certain teachers, school staff members, and school employees. Requires a charter school, nonpublic school, or school corporation to ensure that a teacher, school staff member, or school employee who receives a grant from the Indiana safe schools fund forthe purpose of receiving specialized firearms instruction complies with certain requirements. Provides that the identity of any person who: (1) enrolls in; (2) participates in; or (3) completes; the curriculum is confidential.

HB 1211 (Nisly, assigned to Public Policy Committee) Constitutional carry of firearms. Need to read it...

Allows a member of the: (1) general assembly; (2) general assembly's professional staff; or (3) lobby registration commission; to possess a handgun on the Indiana government center campus if the person is not otherwise prohibited from possessing a firearm. Repeals the law that requires a person to obtain a license to carry a handgun in Indiana. Provides that a nonresident of Indiana may carry a handgun in Indiana without possessing a license or permit to carry a handgun from the person's state of residence.
    So HB1211
Creates sovereign classes of citizens that have more rights than the rest of us on the government center campus. That's some bull crap right there.
Lawmakers legislating themselves more rights than the people they are voted in by. More oath breaking

Orwellian (All animals are equal but some are more equal than others) comes to mind. Public Policy has no hearings scheduled so it may not see light of day. With the crap this guy (Nisly) has pulled I'm suspicious. Almost like pulling ConC and keeping the rest was the plan.

Not sure which bill is up in Senate Education etc, but damn I'm glad I'm not there. This is painful.

Edit: just adjourned, no idea about SB 263 yet.

Not sure if this is the right spot. I'm dropping it here because it is a chance for some of his constituents to have a face to face with him about some of these bills.

I made it to the "kicking 263 to next week" part and stopped there too. Depending on what happens with the bills in the "support" column next Wednesday I may be there to oppose 263. They limited testimony to 3 minutes, I think I got that now.

The Senate Education and Career Development Committee agenda for the hearings on the 29th is up. It starts earlier than usual (1230 vice 1330) and there are four bills in front of 263. The first three should go pretty quick...

Again SB 263 is Handgun Training for Teachers with a mandated training requirement to carry on school property even if authorized by the school.

Edit: that screenshot didn't go well!

Off-duty cops could gain right to carry handguns while gambling in Indiana casinos

Bills that give preference to our friends in law-enforcement over us common citizens don't really warm my heart much. Either it's good enough for the people or it's good enough for the people, but the ruling class doesn't want to allow it.

Not sure if this is the right spot. I'm dropping it here because it is a chance for some of his constituents to have a face to face with him about some of these bills.

That guy has emailed me 3 times and called me. I don't need to go find some BK lounge when I have a Senator this accessible. I don't know a whole lot about him, but I do appreciate his willingness to talk.

So far the only thing I see for the 29th is SB 263. Post #152 has info.

Courts and Criminal Code in the House tends to not give much notice.

    This ^^^ Agree.

Also HB1385 ... passed committee with Amendment 3 (in committee agenda) .... removes sunset / expiration of rifles for deer. Headed to second reading on house floor.

No good house committees scheduled ...
Had an update via IMAGC of stuff

A bald legal eagle gave a hint that something may be going on to get part of language of 1152 into another bill by amendment next day or 2.

All I got. Oh and unavailable to split hairs on 263 ... work life keepin me busy.

Glad to hear you’re staying busy Bill, it keeps you out of trouble.

definitely keep us apprised for when the language from 1152 gets in another bill. Stuff happens Quick and protections in 1152 are vital to say the least.

Fyi floor amendment 1 for second reading on HB1159

Is one of the bad storage bills 1159 may get to 2nd readiing today if they return after a break to work more.

HB 1132 - changes some language related to RF laws (an removal of SN from firearms) ... passed 3rd reading ... on to senate - need to review.

    MOST IMPORTANTLY
BUT - ALSO - indirectly related.

SB 436 - gives state AG the power to prosecute (now thru a special prosecutor) cases a local / county prosecutor choses not to pursue - for WHATEVER reason ...

so very dangerous /game changing to Sanctuary County Movement ... for now thought to be due to Marion Co. not pursuing Marijuana charges for smaller amounts - but this is a MAJOR shift of power to the STATE from LOCALgovernments ... sources of info are from multiple 2A attorneys. ...

Not surprising getting amendment 1 from DeLaney on 1159.

1159 now has some of 1152's language (knowingly providing false information... Laird Law... a crime if it passes) , very important.

I got some info on 1132 from one of my sources, should have better wording now.

Thanks for raising the flag on SB 436, we have to watch all directions these days.

On track to be at the Statehouse about Noon. Senate Chambers for the Committee hearing so I can scribble notes for later update.
