I know someone that has service related hearing loss and tinnitus. He doesn't use the VA other than getting a small monthly check for the tinnitus. A few weeks ago he filed for insomnia as a secondary caused by the tinnitus. Having second thoughts now.

The nurses I deal with at the VA are veterans. When they start asking silly questions and I role my eyes, they just answer them for me.

Do you own any guns, nope.

Have you been involved in any homosexual 3 ways that involved a goat? Nope.
They always ask me if I feel safe at home,I ask if my wife is there. lol

They want the negative response so they can red flag you.

Here’s the problem that the pencil necked administration never considered. The people asking the questions are veterans just like us. They know the deal and aren’t looking to rat you out.

The admin guys went to Harvard, the person asking and the person answering went to basic training.

This sucks big time, but I don’t think it’s going to play out like they think. And , I moved to Texas. There’s no red flag laws.

The one thing that is more conservative down here.

Worth watching this announcement completely from GOA, but the subject of this posting starts at about 2:40 into the GOA video. The spending bill that was passed in the wee hours of last night contains a provision funding the Dept. of Health and Human Services to set up a program with the Veterans Administration to DEMAND all veterans being treated by them (for anything whatsoever) to provide a list of all their guns and a map of their home/residence of exactly where they're stored. Upon review, if VA doesn't "like" how the vet is storing the guns, they are to use all the state and local Extreme Risk Protection Orders and Red Flag Laws to seize their guns. We should know how this will play out. The VA won't approve of an veteran's gun storage and initiate getting the SWATTED to seize their guns -- complete with the inventory and map of where they're located. Of course, refusing to answer the "gun ownership" and "map" demands will automatically get the veteran SWATTED as an extremist radical and dangerous person.

My blood is boiling. And this is yet more reason I'll NEVER set foot in a VA center for ANY reason.

Lolllllllllllllllzzzzz. Pardon my English, oh nevermind you know what expletives go here.

I recently had my yearly checkup at the VA clinic at Atterbury, the issue of firearms never came up. Been using VA healthcare for 30 years the issue of firearms never came up. I'll see if it comes up next year.

I have been getting care at VA for 17 years. I was asked about firearms before being rolled into the MRI machine once. Thought it was fair so I answered honestly. Never beyond that. I feel like this is a rumor that keeps popping up every 5-7 years.

In the past, I have never worried about talking to my doc about my interest in the shooting sports.
Nowadays, and in the future, I never mention anything about firearms.
Just way too many instances of the left weaponizing the justice system against political enemies.

Me... being a white, heterosexual male, with Christian beliefs, who is also a combat veteran, with more conservative leaning ideals... well, I'm kinda already their main focus.

It's the whole medical community, not just the VA. That's part of declaring firearms deaths a medical emergency and what not.
My kids' pediatrician mentioned firearms storage a few years ago. I just nodded and agreed.
The bureaucracy will use whatever means it can. Executive order, disaster, medical pandemics, etc.
