I am in need of some money since my granddaughter is getting married in a few months. Money is tight these days and I am thinking about selling either a Henry Golden Boy H006 lever or a Match Champion GP100; both are .357/.38. The lever has about 40 - 50 rounds in it and it sits locked up. The Match Champion has about 100 - 120 rounds through it and rarely goes out. I have had them both for about 8 years or more. I boughtthem because I think they are both beautiful guns.

That said, I am thinking of selling one, but which one. In the long run I cannot think of a situation where I might need either; I just like them both. The Henry is my only lever, and I love levers….just to look at them. The Match Champion is also cool and shooting it is so smooth, like cutting butter. The Henry seems to get heavier as I age, so does the GP100.

I am asking for some honest input from the experienced people here. Which do you think will give me the return? Give me your thoughts to help me make up mine.

I do have an extra grip for the GP100 along with a bianchi leather holster.

Which would be best to sell or is it just a crap shoot?

Put 'em both up for sale and keep the one "other one" that don't sell first.

I’m assuming either is replaceable down the line. I’m not much help, maybe list both and let the fates decide which one to keep? Not trying to be flippant, but it sounds like you like both and don’t want to sell either. Maybe giving one up wil make you use the other more or maybe it will make you realize you liked that one more and will eventually replace it!

    not lost, wandering...
Tough call. Only input I got is as my dad got way up in his years he was able to still enjoy rifle shooting from a bench for longer than handguns. Shotguns were given up 1st. Of course that depends on the person. I'm not there yet but definitely old enough to understand. 410 was my first love so I'll resort to quarter ounce loads if that's what it takes, lol.

    1. Seein as they're both approximate same value on the used market, which one puts the bigger smile on your face when you shoot it?

    2. If the money is for a wedding gift, let your granddaughter (or fiance) choose which one they want .... then you get to still visit it!!

    I vote for #2. :@ya:

A different direction, not which one. But to who. My cousin has run into similar situations. He knows a well to do guy that accumulates firearms, he sells him a firearm with the deal he may someday be able to buy it back for the same price. Some he’s got back, some he’s not. Just a thought. Good luck, congratulations on the new grandson in law.

I would prefer not to sell either. I have a few others but I think these may bring me the best dollars.

There are 2 ideas I like so far. The first is possibly trying to sell my plasma. I am relatively healthy and I might be able to do that. I want to be able to get 1K and then stop. The other idea is to post both, possibly 3 and see what sells and hopefully keep one of the favorites.

The other Idea shared was to give them one for a gift. Not bad idea but I need to get to know my grandson-in-law a bit more before I do that.

    Thanks…..

I wouldn't be down with this as a buyer. I'm not a pawn shop, but to each their own.

You said the Henry is your only lever-action. Do you have another .357 revolver? If not, it would be kind of a shame to sell either as it's nice to have a handgun and rifle in the same caliber. If you have other .357 revolvers, I'd definitely opt to let the Ruger go over the Henry.

I own a "base model" 4" GP100 and think it's a fantastic revolver. I've shot a Match Champion, and honestly didn't really care for the wood grips...they didn't fit my hand as well as the factory rubbers on my gun. Other than the grips, the "upgrades" that you're paying for on the Match Champion are mostly cosmetic and form over function, and not really worth the price when it comes to actually shooting the gun. It makes sense to me to let that one go, cash in on the inflated value, and replace it with a standard model or a 686 down the road.

Works for me. I’m not involved in the transaction, just attempting to give the OP possible options that he may or may not find viable.

These days a lot of folks are caught between a rock and a hard place. The more options they have the better they can make informed decisions for themselves. YMMV.
