In very short form: I, along with another officer, were in a physical altercation with a suspect attempting to access a weapon in his pants pocket. A rookie officer rode by, not realizing what had just happened as we hadn't had time to get on the radio yet, and cruised on by until his OODA loop caught up and he came back to assist. Afterwards he told us his first thought was "oh $**#, I gotta call the police...oh, S**#, I *am* the police now"...
He turned out to be a pretty good officer once he remembered who he was.
