My parents didn't have to deal with those comments too often.
Turns out, dad is as hard headed as we were, but he was a lot bigger.
And you never, NEVER said "I'm bored" in front of my mom.
That was an invitation to do housework.
Start at the top, no sense doing the lower things and then pushing the dust from the top onto what you've just dusted.

Oh, we could clean the bottom first.
Every thing was a lesson
So, if you cleaned the bottom first, then when mom checked and saw dust, you'd just have to keep at it till it passed inspection.
We were expected to teach ourselves.
Ah. At least the grill was still hot. Hand 'em the dogs and the tongs then chow down on the pulled pork.
