Name a country where porn is illegal that is a better place to live than the United States.
    Switzerland

Pornography in Switzerland is defined by the Article 197 of the Swiss criminal code. The first alinea states that «Any person who offers, shows, passes on or makes accessible to a person who is under the age of 16 pornographic documents, sound or visual recordings, depictions or other articles of a similar nature or pornographic representations, or broadcasts any of the same on radio or television is liable to a custodial sentence not exceeding three years or to a monetary penalty.» Furthermore, it is illegal to produce, import, store, market, advertise, exhibit, offer, show, pass on or make accessible pornography that depicts sexual acts involving children (under 16 years old) or animals, human excrement, or acts of violence, called "hard pornography".

Switzerland is currently (2022) rated as the best country in the world to live in

They are definitely teaching them a lot of woke nonsense. I don't think they are teaching them to be pedophiles though. It's more likely that the job attracts more of them.

The DSM-5 regards pedophilia as a mental disorder. I suspect pedophiles aren’t only in the Democrat party. But Woke Democrats, which it seems there is no other kind of Democrat these days, are the ones likely to defend the practice. Why? Why are woke teachers grooming kids? Read their authors. It’s part of the praxis. They don’t believe children are different from adults. Why do they hate the term “pedophile”? The ones defending Pedophiles prefer to call them minor-attracted persons, and they believe it is a normal behavior.

I suspect a future DSM will reflect that once they have enough people on their board that want pedophilia normalized.

The only remaining communist countries are China, Cuba, Laos, North Korea, and Vietnam.

Porn is illegal in all of those countries.

Guess they aren't doing it right.
Since communism obviously believes porn is a weapon to be used to weaken their enemies, why on earth would you think they would NOT make it illegal in those same countries

    That just seems consistent

Which is where this all started.

Painting with a wide brush is popular around here.
I disagree with those who are trying to conflate porn generally with the topic of pedophilia. Porn is its own thing unless it’s child porn. My involvement in the topic of the availability of porn is the extent to which it might aid grooming. Not that in a binary sense the availability is either targeting kids or not targeting, but there is a grey area there where it aids grooming and benefits the porn industry. I suspect if we had access to internal conversations we might find there’s more targeting than you think.

If that is what you truly believe I do feel sads for your family.
So, since you're willing to drag family into this, and you mentioned your Dad, what do you believe would be his response if you made this argument that production of pornography was a 1st amendment right to him?

What's the bottom line here, then? Because I really still can't see what you're driving at.
If I were to hazard a guess, it would be that 'rational' atheism almost always results in a reflexive rejection of just about anything with moral underpinnings - a vicious NEED to prove that The Word is a bad influence akin to the need to prove the same about patriotism and American exceptionalism

If it is difficult to attack the ideals then attack the fact that implementation of the ideals has often been imperfect and distorted by imperfect men. Things then devolve into arguments about specific scenarios or historic events

Some people should read (or reread) The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, although they would likely ignore the similarities to argue the minutae such as internet porn wasn't available to the Romans such that the link between perversion and low/no morality and the decline of a mighty empire is thus not made

I wouldn’t classify myself as an atheist. But I’m certainly not a believer in the sense that you are. I think what you’re saying of some atheists is true, particularly those on the left. But most particularly post modern atheists would have that opinion.

So I wouldn’t say non-religious people reject morals, and they actually have many of the same morals you do. They reject the idea that religion should be the authoritative source of morals. Obviously. Because they don’t believe in religion.

Some people make the point spitefully because in their disbelief they resent the people who believe. And possibly it may be the resentment that foments the disbelief rather than the other way around. Caustic resentment and unearned arrogance seems to be present in all the militant atheists I’ve encountered.

I would classify you as more of an agnostic
    I am.

The militancy of the atheists I just see as what has become the normal reaction of progressives to any challenge of their orthodoxy

Yep. Even some Christian progressives do the same. And with the same unearned arrogance that assumes their orthodoxy is unquestionable.

Just because you start a thread on a controversial topic doesn't mean you participate in the thing that is controversial. Does not wanting to be the starter of such imply something? :):
