Re: Hamilton, I think it was Frank Williams that said

'If I need a tenth of a second, I look at the car. If I need a second, I look at the driver'
To me that seems like a very obsolete observation that may have been true at one time but is quite the opposite now. The cars are the dominant piece in the performance puzzle.

I think it is still accurate, just depends on the context.

When you talk about teammates, like Lando & Daniel or Latifi and Albon... there seems to be a significant gap between the 2 when you look at other teams on the grid. That gap comes down to the driver IMO.

Could be. But sometimes a specific car suits one driver over the other in their particular style. It may be possible to build a different car where the Daniel is faster than Lando, etc.
Many people have the opinion that if Alonso had a different car he could move up the ladder quite a bit. Same with Vettel.
I remember seeing a lot of times in qualification and/or races where it was two cars from one team come in 1st and 2nd and two cars from another team come in 3rd and 4th and two cars from another team come in 5th and 6th. That is a sign of the car being the dominant factor.

Just finished watching the race. Had to record it since I was busy all weekend and avoided any info on it like the plague. Crazy race but results were not disappointing. Max deserved the championship with a stellar season of driving.

Whiners gonna whine but not going to change anything.

Finally was able to watch the recording of the COTA race. Pretty good race imo. Sucked that Russell spun Sainz on the opening lap, i think Sainz wouldve finished in front of his teammate LeClerc. The crash between Stroll and Alonso was the Aston drivers fault but could've ended much worse for Alonso. Ole Louey had a glimpse for a few but Verstappen making short work of him was awesome. Then for the remainder of the race listening to whinearse Louey acting like a 5th grader tatting on every corner about what he thought Max was doing was just icing on the cake. Face it Louey you're not the champion driver you like to believe you are. It was good that Red Bull took the constructors championship too after the loss of Dietrich Mateschitz. He was good for the RB F1 team, they were good for him, and he was a good man. RIP Sir.
    3 races to go.

Hope to see Checo win in Mexico, hopefully RB can make it a priority.

If Max wins in Mexico/Brazil, would like to see RB ask for de Vries or put Yuki in one of the cars for the final race.

I hope Checo wins Mexico too. With the way Checo was a team player for Max this year, I would hope Max would return the favor and like you said, hope RB would make it a priority. If Max wins I'm not sure I'd want de Vries in my car and driving for different team next year though, team secrets and engineering and all. It might be detrimental to RB in the long run. If Max wins it might be good for Yuki to take Checos seat for A race but Checo deserves to finish the season in his ride imo. Yuki won't get Max's seat as he's going for Schumachers stats.

I thought COTA was a pretty good race. Lots of excitement. Russell should’ve gotten more than a 5 second penalty for spearing Sainze out of the race. Alonso riding out a wicked wheelie and continuing on to finish was amazing! So glad that Max dominated Lulu and smacked his ass! Lulu whining as usual when things aren’t perfect for him. Nobody like a tattler! Toto is a professional whiner, as is Lulu, and tried to deflect eyes from Mercedes shenanigans by criticizing Red Bull. I hope the FIA/Stewards reject their new front wing. They certainly are pushing the rules with that one.
Any way on to Mexico and Viva Red Bull!!

Louey learned from the best at when you're not the better driver you whine your ass off til you get your way. I really hope the stewarts put the smackdown on that new wing. Those little winglet mounts sure look and work on deflecting the air. Can't win by a better driver or engineering? Cheat.. the mercedes way.. just like the driver adjustable camber they got away with for 3 of Loueys championships. Louey is like the A-Rod of F1 imo.

I do agree Russell got away with a slap on the wrist. That should've been atleast a 30sec penalty. Thought Russell was a better driver than that. Guess Toto is also rubbing off on him.

Toto has been on Russell’s ass since he almost won the first time he drove Hambones car. Can’t fuel anybody with that fugged up pit stop costing him the win! But Russell started out good this year and then was either given the facts of life or they detyned his car a bit. He was spanking Lulu good so Toto had to do something to change the last half of the season.
FIAMB won’t say anything about the wing but hopefully the stewards will. It’s definitely an air deflection addition. I wonder if they put it out front during COTA to just judge the response or as a feint to draw attention from some other shenanigans they have going on.
Hoping Checo does good in Mexico!

Watching P2 recording now. The sprint should be interesting but doubt KMag finishes anywhere near the front. I agree the GP should be interesting.
