    In the country, hopefully.
Every time that happens at our place, there have been hawks hanging around. Wish they would concentrate on the chipmunks.
Haven’t really noticed an increase in hawks, but there have been some around. The normal amount.
Tons of squirrels and seeing more deer movement than normal, with the corn still up.

    Also +1 on the chipmunks!

@patience0830 do you want/need me to bring a couple of target stands with cardboard backers?
Depends on how much paper you wanna punch. I'm coordinating the food. Y'all talk among yourselves about targets and games and such. We missed the memorial due to prior commitments so this is mostly a social event for me. Gonna sit with Cindy a bunch, feed everybody, and shoot a little. And be glad y'all came.

I declined the FGE due to not wanting to leave the Mrs with the kids by herself 2 weekends in a row...now I'm contemplating going hunting on Saturday because by opportunities are limited.
Bring the bow and a climber and I'll put you somewhere out of the line of fire where deer travel. You can come in for lunch and kill 2 birds with one stone.

Thought I had it made after I found the trigger pin, but NO, the world didn't let me off that easily.

Went to put the sear group in and it fought me all the way. I just did this with a P-07 a couple of weeks ago and was amazed how easy it was. Not this time. I finally got it installed, cocked the hammer and could not release it. The sear would not move. It took some time to discover the problem was the CGW "light" sear spring was too long and became coil bound before the the sear would release.

I've installed several CGW kits in CZ's before but this time it was a total cluster ****.
This was not a good install for you, but not due to lack of experience or knowledge. These things happen. I'm glad you got it going. I'm looking forward to trying it out sometime.

Don't you gangsters dare think that I'm getting soft in the head ..... it's not like I'm going to run out and buy an electric car .... heck no !
But, the rather mature technology of solar panels, and a compatible electric generator fascinated me .... so I bought this little 300 watt outfit, with a 60 watt panel.

The setup provided a little extra fun yesterday. I ended up talking to friend in CA, while charging both the phone, and the LiPo battery storage device. After about 2 hours, both the generator and the phone went from 50% to 100%.

I was able to photograph birds at the same time, and felt like a real Renaissance Man (whatever the hell that is !). ;)

So I am one of those weird guys, I like the idea of solar energy. We have gotten better with our efficiency when it comes to solar (still not quite good enough), and they have gotten it down to where you don't need big solar panels, instead now there are solar roof tiles that look like regular roof shingles. I think these ideas are cool.

That said, they don't work everywhere. I can't use them at my place, due to all the tree cover.

@MindfulMan Awesome setup! Wife and I are looking a LOT into becoming self sufficient and off the grid at some point in our lives. Dream of mine, she’s mostly on board. Doing a lot of looking, learning, watching, reading.
If I had it to do over, I'd fight tooth and nail to go either completely underground or, at the least, earth sheltered for my home. Build another pond or cistern into the plan as a secondary water source. Self sufficient is a wonderful goal but it is a serious commitment to work.

    Great post all around!

I have a question about birds, and maybe how it could relate to all the numerical voodoo going on with baseball or whatever…

Seriously though a strange thing; you would be hard pressed to find a bird around here to photograph. My wife asked a few days ago where all the birds had gone, she was regularly filling the feeders, now nothing gone. Lots of trees in our yard and at the farm, always birds chirping away, more crows this year than I’ve ever seen, doves were plentiful, but now, dead eery silence. Thinking about it, I saw one dove yesterday jump off a post as I drove by, and saw a small hawk as I mowed last night.
Anyone else? Any numerical baseball/presidential ideas? Are the cubs about to win the World Series?

STopaz could very well be correct. If hawks (or cats) are in the area, the typical songbirds will make themselves very scarce !

Sitting on the deck watching it pour down rain and walnuts.
Tannerite might be ok if we get some rain.

Mr. Cooper clears our feeder at least once every couple of days looking for a dove to munch.

Yup.....same at my wooded getaway place.......too many trees for solar to be efficient.
But the concept of power from the sun is enticing, that's for sure.
