And to think I voted to make you a mod. Harumph
My wife showed me a fb post today that noted 2022 is as far away from 1970 as 1970 is from 1918.Damn good movie.
But trying to figure out where in the hell those 30 yrs went.
I figured it would be available for free "on demand" by now, but nope... $3.99 - $14.99 to "rent" it only. I know that $3.99 doesn't seem like much, but with what I'm already paying for Xfinity, I'm not giving them a nickel more than I have to.Well to be honest I’ve never seen it either, but I do plan on sitting down tonight with a good cigar and watching it.
$3.99 on Amazon to. Oh well, it’s a small price to pay to keep @BigRed from accusing me of being a commie!I figured it would be available for free "on demand" by now, but nope... $3.99 - $14.99 to "rent" it only. I don't have Amazon Prime, so I'm not sure where it would be coming from, but I ain't paying it. Blockbuster got their money from me when I rented it!$3.99 on Amazon to. Oh well, it’s a small price to pay to keep @BigRed from accusing me of being a commie!
That was when you had to rent the movies and the player because the movies played on the record!I don't have Amazon Prime, so I'm not sure where it would be coming from, but I ain't paying it. Blockbuster got their money from me when I rented it!
You can buy on eBay cheap. I buy most of my dvds there. I can easily get used copies or under 8 bucks delivered.I figured it would be available for free "on demand" by now, but nope... $3.99 - $14.99 to "rent" it only. I remember video discs. When I was a manager at Sizzler in Lafayette, they had a training "video" that was on video disc. It was the size of a 12" LP record! That was when you had to rent the movies and the player because the movies played on the record!
Had to look it up, they were video discs, the original DVD!
Yeah, but I don't want to install a dvd player out on the deck. I'd have to reconfigure my tv cabinet/box and it's not worth it. To my way of thinking, if it's been on tv for free at any time (which Unforgiven has I'm pretty sure), it should be available on demand. I get Peacock for free with Xfinity, and I subscribe to Paramount+ ($4.99/month). That's as far as I'm willing to go.You can buy on eBay cheap. I buy most of my dvds there. I remember going to town and renting 3 or 4 movies on Friday after dad got home from work, man that was such a big deal, got our huge discs and the player for the weekend!I remember video discs. Holy crap. And now I understand better why my back hurts. My wife showed me a fb post today that noted 2022 is as far away from 1970 as 1970 is from 1918.
Certainly Magnificent 7 gets at least an honorable mention. Eh. Even both of them.I love really good westerns, and I guess, some not so great westerns. The Man who Shot Liberty Valance. Tombstone. Winchester 73. Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, directed by Sam Peckinpah, 3:10 to Yuma, True Grit, Pale Rider, High Plains Drifter, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Open Range. But as far as I`m concerned, Unforgiven is THE BEST western EVER made. The casting was wonderful, the acting was masterful, the film production was incredible. And for all the wonderful, memorable lines in the film, one exchange sticks in my mind with an almost spiritual resonance:
The Schofield Kid : Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming. Will Munny : We all got it coming, kid.
Eastwood is rightfully a legend, and Unforgiven, in my mind, puts him at the top of an already crowded field as far as men who have directed and acted in them. I think I need to go, right now, and put on the Unforgiven DVD.
