On a related note, anyone else Think Leone could have trimmed at least 30 minutes out of Good/bad/ugly? Good movie just so damned long! What is it, nearly 3 hours?

Well to be honest I’ve never seen it either, but I do plan on sitting down tonight with a good cigar and watching it.
I figured it would be available for free "on demand" by now, but nope... $3.99 - $14.99 to "rent" it only. I know that $3.99 doesn't seem like much, but with what I'm already paying for Xfinity, I'm not giving them a nickel more than I have to.

$3.99 on Amazon to. Oh well, it’s a small price to pay to keep @BigRed from accusing me of being a commie!

I don't have Amazon Prime, so I'm not sure where it would be coming from, but I ain't paying it. Blockbuster got their money from me when I rented it! :lmfao:
That was when you had to rent the movies and the player because the movies played on the record!

Had to look it up, they were video discs, the original DVD!

You can buy on eBay cheap. I buy most of my dvds there. I can easily get used copies or under 8 bucks delivered.

I remember video discs. When I was a manager at Sizzler in Lafayette, they had a training "video" that was on video disc. It was the size of a 12" LP record!

Yeah, but I don't want to install a dvd player out on the deck. I'd have to reconfigure my tv cabinet/box and it's not worth it. To my way of thinking, if it's been on tv for free at any time (which Unforgiven has I'm pretty sure), it should be available on demand. I get Peacock for free with Xfinity, and I subscribe to Paramount+ ($4.99/month). That's as far as I'm willing to go.

I remember going to town and renting 3 or 4 movies on Friday after dad got home from work, man that was such a big deal, got our huge discs and the player for the weekend!

    In no particular order:

    Hombre
    Silverado
    The Wild Bunch
Once Upon a Time in the West (one of the best opening scenes in movie history, IMO)
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
    The Shootist
    The Ox-Bow Incident
    Winchester 73
    3:10 to Yuma (1957)

It's not a coincidence that two of these are based on Elmore Leonard books, if you haven't read his books you should start.

    and for humor

    Blazing Saddles
    The Ballad of Buster Scruggs
    City Slickers

The Terrence Hill spaghetti westerns are fun:

    My Name is Nobody
    They Call Me Trinity
    Trinity is Still My Name

I love really good westerns, and I guess, some not so great westerns. The Man who Shot Liberty Valance. Tombstone. Winchester 73. Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, directed by Sam Peckinpah, 3:10 to Yuma, True Grit, Pale Rider, High Plains Drifter, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Open Range. But as far as I`m concerned, Unforgiven is THE BEST western EVER made. The casting was wonderful, the acting was masterful, the film production was incredible. And for all the wonderful, memorable lines in the film, one exchange sticks in my mind with an almost spiritual resonance:

The Schofield Kid : Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming. Will Munny : We all got it coming, kid.

Eastwood is rightfully a legend, and Unforgiven, in my mind, puts him at the top of an already crowded field as far as men who have directed and acted in them. I think I need to go, right now, and put on the Unforgiven DVD.

Certainly Magnificent 7 gets at least an honorable mention. Eh. Even both of them.
