Local chatter reported last night indicated a small group of civilians rendered first aid including a jury-rigged pressure bandage, took control of the firearm and rendered it safe and unloaded, escorted families with children running toward the scene away from the scene and called 911. The mall cop present seemed to be inop.

Thankfully at least some Greenwood residents run towards problems. However, many in the mall reported another shooting at the opposite end of the mall and people were running around with their hair on fire.

The shooter appears to be a "younger" guy accompanied by a friend.

Holy mother of god, that holster is a terrible idea!
And I think its also illegal in some states. (possibly even here) I forget why. But the proper version that doesnt have the trigger cutout would be legal. I think it has something to do with the gun's ability to fire without being removed. I forget the justification.

Yes they include those type of incidents. The data they compile is freely available to anyone to use, the NRA could use it if they want. You could compile a report on defensive gun use from their data.

They cite their sources for each incident.
Ok, after looking at the gva homepage I see there is a ton of data. A whole category for defensive use, actually very informative. Just saw there was a defensive shooting today at a bar in Lafayette, anyone see this? https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/...SGfyTjiKweQ-1635734901-0-gqNtZGzNAiWjcnBszQj9

That's the legal version. There technically isn't an illegal version, but the kind that covers the slide but allows access to the trigger, marketed as making the gun look like a wallet, turns it into a AOW due to being a "disguised weapon", meaning it is illegal if you don't do the AOW paperwork.

I've used the GVA data before and others have published on it but you have to be aware it's an anti-gun group and will likely have their biases. Also, they are limited to just incidents that they can find a report or news story on. If you are going to use it you have to pretty much look at each incident. For instance I stratified it to look at just unintentional deaths or injuries and looking through it I noticed sometimes 2-3 injuries at the same address which seemed odd for an unintentional shooting. I thought that it must have just been duplicate data but when you look at the incident it was the result of a drive by but they classified it as unintentional.

Thanks. I knew it was something like that.
