Country music has been commercial pop since the Nashville sound began. There are exceptions but even as I listen to old Alabama I realize just how pop they were, though I didn't see it at the time. The holy grail in music city is a song that charts on the pop chart, so what is really their goal, country or pop music?

    Where's the bacon?
According to Kut, yes. Country music culture is pretty much the same as hip hop.
Wait a sec. How did Kut appear in this thread when he hasn’t even posted here?

Simply put, you can look at almost any form of entertainment and find something that offends someone. “Cop Killer” was a song, “Dixie”, which was a song very popular when I went to Robert E. Lee high school (which has since been stripped of the Confederate Battle Flag and then of Gen. Lee’s name. ) People have found problems with Lucy in the sky with Diamonds, Puff the Magic Dragon, and these days, it wouldn’t surprise me if they tried to ban “White Room” by Cream, because it says White, and therefore must be racist.

Morgan Freeman said it best, the best way to stop racism is to stop talking about it... Which is why the mass media will never let that subject die.

Only one side makes a profession out of being offended though.

How long has a lionshare of hip hop/rap music been offensive? Since it's inception? How much do you hear about this?

They`re antagonizing much of their base with this PC stunt. I hope this comes back to bite them bigly. Best way to kill them is if everyone turned them OFF, and kept them turned OFF.

There is still some good country music being made.....It just does not normally come out of Nashville.

    Damn straight.

I'n not sure CMT even knows who Hank was.
Just as well that Hank is gone:

“Hey, Good Lookin! What ya got cookin’?
How ‘bout cookin’ somethin’ up, for me??”

would be considered by the woke class to be sexual harassment these days.

I agree, turned them off a long time ago. They may have just stuck their foot in a hole with this stunt. Many people are really getting tired of being used to forward an agenda. Just can't tune in and hear some good music without some kind of underlying message along the way.
