So I just watched a movie called Nobody and in the movie he pulls out an HK and I thought man are those guys still popular? I grew up in the 90's and back then I know they were consider amazing. I owned a few never fell in love, mag release was meh and the other one jammed a bit. I actually ordered one of the MP5 pistols that they brought in a year or two ago and couldn't get it so I canceled the order and bought the CZ Scorpion instead which I love. Anyway just wondering if there quality has gone down and that's why I do not see many of them around.

You still can't find the SP5s hardly anywhere and they are bringing well over MSRP. So I am guessing they are still popular.

They're hard to get, nothing to do with quality. And yes, they're still popular.

HundK faced many problems including criminal prosecution in Germany. It was heavily in debt and CTD last 2 years. It's problems came from the monster loan Heeschen got in 2006 and properly pissed away on non-gun ventures.

Summer of 2020 it was sold to holding company in Luxembourg. The company is now directed by an absentee chateau general who lives on a private island in the Caribbean.

The company is hosed, big time.

Understand that the people that own/run gun companies, especially in Europe, hate guns.

Guns are for the king and not you serfs. This attitude shines through on how they do business.

You suck and we hate you is the operational philosophy of HK and many others.

HKs are always a thing. Some of the best functioning and designed firearms out there. Just too expensive for me.

What I've said for the last 20 years, primary, and usually the only complaint most people have about an H&K is the price.
If I'm at a range and see a guy with an HK, especially a rifle, I'm going to be looking for his Lambo in the parking lot.

    .
Back in the 70s and 80s, they never impressed me much. The G3 was hard on brass and didn't offer much over an M14 other than looking more modern. The MP5 was interesting to shoot SA as it fired from closed bolt and I liked the combos people did with suppressors, but FA fire was no more accurate than the S&W 76 and the gun was more complex.

The VP 70 was different looking and one of the first plastic hi-caps, but had an abominable trigger pull.

    Scrounging brass
Shot an MP5 (along with a number of other full auto SMGs) at an INGO shoot a few years ago.
The Colt was nice, the G18 was a blast, but the most controllable? Not the MP5. It was the Uzi.

    They aren't that expensive, eesh.
Upper end FNs, any knights, LMTs, LWRCs.... List goes on, are all in a similar price category.

I still love the USP. It's one of those guns that you pick up and go "meh." But when you get out to the range and actually shoot it, it will make you look better than you actually are.

They’re expensive enough compared to other offerings.
