Good grief. Jesus said he who is without sin should cast the (literal) first stone. They wanted to kill a woman for having committed adultery. Pointing out, (discerning) sin is NOT casting stones, it IS using the Word to point out Truth. And the "delivery" come straight from Holy Scripture.
IMHO, it was both a "literal" first stone, but also (in keeping with Jesus' messages and parables) a "figurative" first stone. We don't stone anyone to death (at least not as Christians) anymore, but the figurative still applies, wouldn't you agree? Eh, probably not, but that's okay too. I just happen to think it kinda meshes with the rest of the Gospel, the Golden Rule, etc..

And let us not forget Matthew 22:36-40. :)

But before Jetta scolds me, I will stop bringing the religion thing into this. FWIW, I think the American flag should be the only one flown at our embassies.

Surely they won't fly these in Islamic countries.... that would light a few fires.

As to sin there is a lot that will keep you out of heaven.

“14 Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.
15 Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. Revelation 22 14-15
The thing that will keep one out of heaven is not accepting Jesus Christ as Lord, Savior, and Messiah. If one does this, everything else will be taken care of through the Holy Spirit.

No one is "born with this", it`s a sick choice...
Absolutely! As a former high school biology and health teacher, and I got stuck teaching 'sex-ed' in GA for 2 years, there is no 'gay-gene' present on the chromosomes list...so you're not 'born' with it...it does not a biologically manifested cause!
If, however, one looks at traumatic incidents in a person's life, and often times they occur during childhood or the early teen years, there are key characteristics of incident(s) that can sway an individual's emotional and psychological thought processes towards that lifestyle...at which point they choose to participate in those types of activities.
They then tend to bury or repress the memory of the incident or causation and move forward in a different direction in life, in an attempt to avoid the pain of the reality of it! Sad, really...

The US embassies are considered US soil and they represent the US to foreign nations. There should only be one flag flying above the embassies and that should be the American flag. It represents ALL Americans including those that fly the pride flag. There is no reason to ever fly a flag that represents a specific group because they are already represented. The only reason a specific group flag would be flown with the American flag would be to elevate that group above the American people and to purposely disgrace Americans. And we, the American citizens, are paying for them to humiliate us. No, this is not acceptable. Just my :twocents:
    Abso-freakin'-lutely! And well said...

This is likely familiar to you with your background, but I'd encourage you to research epigenetics. Specifically, as it relates to this thread, the epigenetic "theory" (inappropriately used, but that's how it's referred to) of homosexuality.

When I hear all these arguments I always wonder why what one decides to do in their bedroom has anything to do with them as a person. Sexual preference defining whom a person is, or is not is just plain non sense. Why would what someone chooses in their sex lives require comment at all, or a flag, or anything else? Why can't we all just keep our personal lives private and love each other as such? I could care less who your grinding out the oldies with, and I certainly don't feel compelled to broadcast my intimate life.

You just hit the core of the issue. Most of us who disagree as either a political issue or as a moral/religious issue aren't nearly so concerned that it does in fact happen as we are by those who cling to that as their defining issue. We don't want it to be our problem, so don't make it our problem, and there won't be any problem. As I explained at length upthread, don't use it as a platform to demand special rights including but not limited to using public education to tell our children that they are right and we are all wet. In the end the majority who so happen to be gay are far different from those who are GAY and so happen to have a couple of other attributes.

As with most problems, there are a vocal few on both sides who bring us the majority of the issues.
