So the engine in Moms car took a :poop:
Yup. Yesterday I stuck my bore scope in there and you could see where the piston and valve got entirely to friendly. Then i popped off the valve cover and confirmed at least 2 bent valves. Its cheaper to just get a used engine from lkq than a new head. Plus if i slap a new head on it would probably just make the oil consumption worse since that engine is notorious for sticky piston rings.

When she got back to town Thursday i got her fixed up with a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Her monthly only went up $30 something plus this is 4x4 and shes always liked Mrs.BRC’s 15 GC. Im sick of this friggin equinox so its going up for sale as soon as its running. Been a royal PITA since she got it like 2 years ago.

I had considered an Asus TUF gaming laptop personally, but have decided to live with what I have for now. I think this was the one I was looking at.
I have a lower end Asus Tuf laptop that I bought a year ago. It performs okay enough. I don't think it's lightning fast (that might just be because I run Windows) and the storage space of 250GB is a little small, but I keep externals for storing media and data for my work. First thing I did was upgrade the RAM to 32 GB - helps when analyzing CT scan data for work.

8GB to 16GB of RAM (memory). Core i5 or higher processor. 15" or larger 1080p (or larger) screen. Enough ports to hook up what you want (USB, HDMI, etc). M.2 SSD is preferable to the older SSD's for a bit of a speed bump. I'd get whatever capacity you feel you need 1TB or more of HDD space, unless you feel 500/512GB will do. If you game, you want something with a discrete graphics card that isn't built onto the CPU. Not sure where the best place is to buy. I really don't like the Dell laptop I got a couple years ago and no longer recommend Dell. Amazon seemed to have a lot of decent laptops in stock. I had considered an Asus TUF gaming laptop personally, but have decided to live with what I have for now. I think this was the one I was looking at.

I, too, was looking at the TUF system - but many were complaining of the heat issues. Not a ton of vents for a gaming system..

I have a question for the computer geeks among us. Barb and I are looking to buy a laptop to replace the old tower system. Want it to last as long as possible, be reliable and fast enough to take advantage of the fiber optic interwebz we got. What specs should we look for and what should we expect to spend for a non Apple unit? And where should we buy for best deal?
I switched out my old mini-tower last year. I went with a Dell business laptop. I have had great success with Dell business side. Specs are very similar to the home laptops, but life is longer--I think better components.

As far as specs, go with what you can afford. Stay with the newer Intel processors, and larger RAM. Typically, if you need to cut back a little, drop back a generation on the processor and stay with the higher RAM--It will allow for faster processor speeds.

Got a bunch of projects going. Getting my utility trailer ready for powder coat, electrical stuff for my folks. Then, this morning at 4am, got up to pee and our toilet fill valve took a dive. Ever try diagnosing that half-asleep in underwear and shorts?

Engine acquired and my everything is wet. Stopping at good ole Harbor Freight for one of those pop up tent things then headed home. I really need to look at the weather more often.

Put an ALG trigger in my AK. They weren't kidding that the hammer spring legs would bite you if you let them slip. Some things I have to learn the hard way.
