I'm sure a lot of the libs appalled at Cruz are the same ones that fled to their country homes at the first sign of covid. We have countless people clamoring for taking personal responsibility to ensure the welfare of themselves and their families.
I guess that doesn't apply to GOP Senators.
Philosophically I agree. Politically, putting the wife and kids on a plane, staying himself, and better yet finding an opportunity for a Churchill-like leadership moment would have been a much better choiceWe have countless people clamoring for taking personal responsibility to ensure the welfare of themselves and their families.

The media will just do another loving story about Biden putting another log on the fire before he tucks himself into his cozy little bed.Who cares if he went to Cancun, as others have said what is he going to do, i'm sure he's not the only one that got out of dodge. The only reason it's an issue is because the media made it one. Is the media going to ask biden if he went to bed early while TX was freezing? Cruz probably won't make this mistake again, with Trump gone the MSM and dems are going to need a new punching bag.
Yeah I guess you're right. Cruz should've stayed and handed out blankets.Philosophically I agree. Politically, putting the wife and kids on a plane, staying himself, and better yet finding an opportunity for a Churchill-like leadership moment would have been a much better choice
I don't care that he left, moving his family to a safer/warmer location. There are two other issues that make this particular move problematic. FIRST it's the place they traveled to. Cancun. Most normal Americans, when sending family to safety, from say a hurricane, send them someplace normal like a few states over, out of range of danger. They don't send them off on vacations, and invite their friends to ride it out with them. SECOND, Cruz is a publicly elected Texas official. When problems arise and people are suffering in a particular state, conventional wisdom is that you stick around and try to help people; at the very least show your face so people don't think you have abandoned them. Cruz's actions come off as tone deaf.Who cares if he went to Cancun, as others have said what is he going to do, i'm sure he's not the only one that got out of dodge. That would have been better optics but the MSM would have found something on that too.Yeah I guess you're right. Cruz should've stayed and handed out blankets.
Well said. I do feel compelled to put in a word for other members so far that they do have valid points, just overlooking that the optics and appearance of concern for constituents suck.I don't care that he left, moving his family to a safer/warmer location. The first few posters in this thread seem to understand those points. Why is it so difficult to understand for others?
First, they're in TX so Cancun was just down the street that'd be better than Oklahoma lol. Second, i'm from MI so i've had my share of power outages in snowstorms and my first thought was never where is my senator! I'm not sure many posters were that upset with what he did versus how it looks, two different things.I don't care that he left, moving his family to a safer/warmer location. Ha, you agree with Kut on something, is that a first?Well said. I do feel compelled to put in a word for other members so far that they do have valid points, just overlooking that the optics and appearance of concern for constituents suck.
This would not be such a big deal if the MSM had'nt exploited it for political purposes. On the flipside I guess Cruz should have expected it since he's always been targeted.First, they're in TX so Cancun was just down the street that'd be better than Oklahoma lol. How is going to Cancun from Texas so much different than going a "couple of states over"? Houston to Cancun is around 790 miles. Houston to Phoneix is 1009.I don't care that he left, moving his family to a safer/warmer location. There are two other issues that make this particular move problematic.
