    Kerosene for the win.

    SR 71 Blackbird, 1 H 4 M 20 S

We were talking about around the world.

At full boogie the Blackbird would take about 17 hours to do it. Of course it could not really do that because it would run out of fuel. If you add in lots of refueling times it would take longer.
(based on flying at about 37,000 feet)

and of those things we have tried did we get the shortest duration on the first try or did we keep trying new things?

Maybe Sail power was enough! Why try steam we already did it!
Maybe Steam was enough! Why try diesel!
Diesel is enough! No need to try Nuclear.

Put in Navy terms for you :)

I think you are attempting humor because its like everything else including the conversation above. It's usually about being better stronger faster heavier etc. Until someone said lets make an electric car, we didn't have one. Now they are rivaling gas cars in all categories. My 6 cylinder hybrid gets the HP of a 6cyl+ with the gas mileage of a 4 cylinder.

Solar panels are too expensive...hey wait, lets try perovskite instead of silicon ... or lets combine them. That too will revolutionize things.

We didn't stop with props, we went to jets. Why not try solar? They fly above the clouds a lot of the time. power some systems from solar.

    But we have tried.
And succeeded in much less time.

Maybe differing altitudes came into play?

It says "five times the speed of sound" and "two and a half times the speed of a speeding bullet".
They must be using a pretty ho-hum bullet. Five times the speed of sound is about two and a half times the speed of a mild 300 Blackout.

The trial will start soon and it looks like it will bring another contentious summer.
A USA Today poll finds that the difference in positions on racial injustice has widened between blacks and whites since last summer. Upon review of the events and the results of the riots (OK, OK, I meant mostly peaceful protests) it looks like whites have backed off of the "cops bad" opinion.
    The survey says...
Last June, 60% in a USA TODAY/Ipsos Poll described Floyd's death as murder; that percentage has now dropped by double digits to 36%.
Nearly two-thirds of Black Americans, 64%, view Floyd's death as murder; fewer than one-third of white people, 28%, feel that way.

Things that blacks and whites both changed opinions on in the same direction were BLM and police. This tells me that the public, black or white, feel that the riots went too far and they don't feel safe anymore.
    Survey says...
Among Black respondents, trust in Black Lives Matter has fallen by 12 points and trust in local police has risen by 14 points. Among white respondents, trust in Black Lives Matter has fallen by 8 points and trust in local police has risen by 12 points.
    And race relations in general...
the number who say they have improved, 40% versus 13%. Among Black respondents, the gap is even wider; 54% say race relations have worsened; just 10% believe they have improved.
And I was hoping to have a normal summer this year.:ugh:
