Well one of the minneapolis city council members, jeremiah ellison, has tweeted "I hereby declare, officially, my support for antifa". His father keith ellison is the state attorney general and is similarly f***ed up. With people like these in those positions there is little hope for minneapolis. They are NOT well meaning but misguided.

I think C.S. Lewis hit the nail on the head:

[h=1]“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”[/h]

    You mean this Keith Ellison?

The well-meaning but strongly misguided nice residents will continue to believe that "addressing the root causes of crime" is all that is needed, and magically crime will go down. Defunding the police and spending the money on "addressing the root causes" generally means hiring social workers and other community support specialists, but all too often that includes sending buckets full of money to "community groups" and other tangential players.

The ill-intentioned residents will take advantage of the reduced police presence and the overworked condition of remaining officers and detectives and predate the well-meaning but strongly misguided nice residents.

If they do not address the crime problem head on, and keep funding favored constituencies and organizations instead of law enforcement efforts, they will be in a race with other, like minded places to see who can achieve Detroit-level squalor and dysfunction the fastest.

Judging by the way they vote, nobody should be surprised.

    Imagine that.
Insurers don't want to insure people in some areas.

After all the Burn, Loot Murder activity, who would have guessed?

So what's next? BLM folks complaining "food deserts", "lack of services", and "lack of investment" is because of "systemic racism".

The BLM folks are great examples of pure stupidity.

    Yup.

Then they'll want the city to provide insurance, taxes will have to go up, more businesses will leave.

Will all of us have to bear higher insurance premiums because lefty leaders allow this to happen? Kind of like flood insurance for the morons in New Orleans that keep rebuilding below sea level.

Or change 'insurance premiums' to 'energy prices' and think windmills and solar cells. Can hardly wait for electric planes

They're already there! I think one flew around the world or something a few years ago. Pretty low aspect ratio if I remember correctly.

Oh, I remember Solar Impulse. You wouldn't dare sneeze if you were aloft in it. Not a very practical means of public transport though. Apparently electric ducted fan engines aren't, either
