USPS is still dealing with recently found Biden votes.

Mrs Monkey and I are finding all the classic movies from our youth and exposing our kids to them (Mr Mom, Ferris, Goonies, Explorers, Stand by me, etc) so I'm buying cheap on ebay used when I cant find them streaming for free. I ordered Inner Space yesterday and the seller warned me that he is seeing delays and to be patient. So its all over the place.

I'm cool with it. I got the DVD for $7 including shipping. It can get here for New Years and I'll not care.

problem I had wit ups was they dropped a package off at USPS. USPS never delivered and neither would honor insurance. Luckily the retailer replaced it.

Any insurance reimbursement would be to the shipper in that case.

Looks like I spoke too soon earlier in this thread giving USPS credit for timely delivery as my current in transit package has taken a detour thru Muskegon.

My question at this point is was it really actually ever at the destination Post office (Elkhart) as shown on this tracking?

I ordered some batteries in June and they have yet to show up. I had a coffee cup sent to me in August and it showed up last week, in pieces and it was very well packed. Both of these were via USPS. I tried to file an insurance claim and it just isn't worth the hassle.

I bought a gun on Gunbroker it was supposed to be delivered last Thursday. Showing it left the Indianapolis Dist. center on the 4th. No new updates. I've never had things take this long with Priority mail before. Ordered some gun parts that were supposed to be delivered 2 weeks ago. They show the same as the gun, left Indy dist. center arriving late, and have showed this for a week.
    UPDATE
Both of mine were delivered today

I just talked to a friend that runs a business. He stated that USPS is "broken" right now. The system is overloaded and can not handle the load. the updates on USPS site are not accurate. It is batch updated and, for my location, the updates always says something along the lines of "package left City location to Indianapolis facility 75 minutes ago". Truth is, there are 4 runs to Indy every day. Items coming in late, the supervisor has to run those items down and it could be 9pm. I can understand why the customer is confused after reading status updates and blames the supplier, seller. I think he said both UPS and FED X are no longer accepting packages from big retailers like Macy's and such.
I've been waiting since Nov. 17 for an update on a purchase. I think it is a combination of seller and USPS. If you are thinking of purchasing from Runner Mounts.com.... you might want to look at the Spartan Mounts instead. These were supposed to be next day shipping as part of a sale. I'm starting to question the seller more than USPS though.

Today's Monday, I got a USPS package shipped on Thursday, from California.

So, at least for me, it's working fine.

    Lots of delays for me:
AR15.com EE buy: Tracking says due Monday, Nov 30th, shows in transit Dec 1st
Concealment Express Holsters: Dec 2nd, delayed
    Pitbull Tactical: Same as above.

Odd, anything from Amazon is still on time

I have a scope coming from Midway that was shipped on Nov 24th that reached the Louisville USPS Distribution Center on the 26th. Tracking shows that it left there on the 1st on its way to the Henryville post office (30-35 minute drive), but still hasn't made it there in six days.

I had two packages of ammo from Bass Pro last week that were just one and two days late with Fed Ex.

Every year the small parcel companies go to their large accounts known for heavy "peak" volume and ask them for upcoming projections to help with logistics/manpower planning. The national accounts ie Macys, LL Bean, etc that you're currently reading about having shipments temporarily denied are currently exceeding their own data projections likely due to kungFlu. The small parcel companies are NOT denying shipment from those companies, but rather currently placing a volume cap based on projections given to them by those very companies.

We get shipments from UPS, FedEx and USPS every day. UPS and FedEx are working fine, just like normal. USPS has been extremely slow pretty much all year. I've had several shipments take over a month to get here. One shipment showed on the tracking that it sat in LA for over 3 weeks without moving. Leave it to the government run shipping service to be a complete disaster. If you need it fast, don't use USPS.

On a positive note, UPS sent me an email today, I had a package being shipped from Optics Planet (I know), checked tracking info, sure enough, it was delivered Saturday the 4th. Yep, you read it correctly.

Sent two packages - one to CA and one to VA - on the same day, November 24. They have still not been delivered. There was no tracking update until Dec. 6. These were sent priority 2-3 mail with expected delivery date of Nov. 30. I can understand a few days late, but this is getting very frustrating. Tomorrow is 2 weeks and they (last check) were in OH - nowhere near the destination.

Yes, I'm thinking that USPS is looking for MORE $$ for sub-standard work!!

    My last experience from USPS:

Bought a set of revolver grips from INGO member in the Cincinnati OH area. I live in NW Hancock County.

Grips were sent from the Cinn. area to Nashville TN.
From Nashville, they were sent to my local PO. (I have lived in the SAME area, and have had the SAME PO Box # for over 40 years).
My local PO left the grips set behind the counter for FOUR days, and then sent them to Edinburgh IN.
Tracking at Edinburgh stated that the item was un-deliverable from there and sent them back to my local PO.

When I inquired about the tracking (FTF at my local PO), I received the grips in my mail box the next day??

Yeah, I call that service worth a raise in pay???===NOT...Bill.

For the first time I recently had a package mysteriously disappear into thin air after UPS supposedly delivered it ( after a 6 week “delay” ). I contacted the vendor and UPS. Both supposedly “checked” and assured me it was delivered and must have been stolen. Where we live and where deliveries are left normally make this almost laughable. However I searched and searched & checked with nearest neighbors to no avail. There are no kids within a mile of our home to blame it on. I’m not saying someone is lying but I think someone is lying.

I checked tracking this morning on a package that was supposedly to be delivered a week ago by USPS. Tracking info has now been changed and shows the package has been at a facility 30 miles from my home for 5 days.

This is why I get stuff delivered to work.

Aside from the security, they do seem more eager to deliver it promptly.

Only time my shipment gets held up is if its USPS and hits Chicago or Cincinnati. It sits there for days as if they lost it then magically find it and send it on. If the shipment goes through both thats an extra 5-7 business days for delivery. This is normal all the time. For Christmas its worse.

USPS has been terrible for about 2 years. I think the turning point was a very cold week in late January/early February a few years ago. I'm a CPA and we'd just filed end of year payroll reports for clients. Most of those never made it to the IRS. I called the Indianapolis distribution center and was told any time the USPS is closed, even for a day, mountains of mail will pile up and likely take weeks to process. Since then, shipping is hit or miss. I send checks out for a client in rural IL, about an hour south of Chicago. Some checks make it in 3-5 days, and some take 3-4 weeks. It's a complete toss up these days.
Avoid USPS if at all possible for anything that's priority.

With everyone doing their shopping online, delays are bound to happen.

That's a good excuse, as far as excuses go. It's not like they didn't know this in advance. Even before the 'rona, online shopping has been on the increase every year.

Companies have been adapting to accommodate their customer base for years, bringing on additional staffing for the holiday shipping rush. All except for USPS anyway.

For years the USPS has complained that they need more of our tax dollars. They figure that it is in their interest to be less than efficient in some cases to help promote their welfare mentality.
