Carnival (incl. HAL and Princess), Royal Caribbean (incl. Celebrity), Norwegian, MSC, and Disney have all currently suspended all sailings. That pretty much covers the mainstream cruise lines in the US.

You do seem to be correct. It was my error. I was looking at available bookings and departure dates for those. I did not see anything on Carnival or Royal Caribbean sites that showed all had been canceled. In response to your post I tried to book a cruise on Carnival, and then RC. It was not until then that you could see most are canceled and future booking dates appear to be pushed out until June.

    Good catch.

Chip is still mostly right - articulable suspicion of a crime, infraction, or ordinance violation.

Also not sure that an EO would be a crime/infraction/ordinance violation, unless bootstrapped to some sort of generic "order for public safety."

An infraction or ordinance violation is not a crime.

“Dearborn County citizens should be, and hereby are, notified that a person who knowingly, intentionally, or recklessly violates any provision of Governor Holcomb’s Executive Order 20-18 commits a Class B misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) and a sentence of Zero (0) to One Hundred Eighty (180) days pursuant to Indiana Code § 10-14-3-34,” the news release states.

stopped the person for an infraction or ordinance violation

Again, playing ball with your son in an open park is not a crime.
No reason to engage. And put themselves at potential risk doing so, as the family put themselves at potential risk being in the park. What's more concerning, he was illegally detained in cuffs and has cause. Hence the apology.

    Safe?

If you mean by that: 100% chance of not contracting it.....there is no "safe"

But "safe" was never the goal of any of these measures. Reduction in risk is.

1 foot is less risk than french kissing. 6 feet is less risk than 3 feet, etc., etc.....

The CDC (and its recommendations) are not targeted at 100% anything. They are targeted at reducing societal numbers and in that regard, the feasible 6 foot rule reduces risk from no rule, but is not 100% safe and was never promised to be.

This is a point worth repeating. When your friends or the folks on your local FB group are tut-tutting you for not chaining yourself to your bed post and hiding 24/7, remind them of this. Despite how this seems to have morphed into a consensus that the more extreme measures are taken (I’ve even seen the cry for marshal law to be called) the more we’ll assuredly not get sick and die, this was always about reducing risk. Many have seem to have forgotten in any risk mitigation effort, there is a point of diminishing return.

No sooner than I'd go to Ponderosa for a steak. :):

If you can find one...and good call.

BTW- I've noted over the years that if a person, outside of a medical context, introduces themselves as DR. so and so, chances are he is a chiropractor.

    M.D.s and D.O.s usually just say: "My name's Bob...or Frank...or Dinesh..."

I've been tracking Indiana against Sweden and Switzerland. Although there certainly are demographic differences and a range of populations and pop density, Sweden has taken a relatively relaxed view toward isolation while Switzerland has pretty much locked down the country.

Population: Indiana 6.7 million; Sweden 10.2 million; Switzerland 8.6 million

Positive cases: Indiana 6,000; Sweden 8,400; Switzerland 22,800

Confirmed deaths: Indiana 203; Sweden 687; Switzerland 858

Trend charts are more relevant than single points, but these two other countries are interesting to follow.

You are right, 2 family members playing ball in an open park does not appear to violate the stay-at-home order. Especially considering the fact that our state parks are open for outdoor activities. Police sometimes overstep their bounds.

True. But not even an infraction was observed. It is what it is. Overstepping.

Regarding that particular incident, I agree. I was simply responding to the assertion that suspicion of a crime was necessary to demand ID, which is not true. An infraction or ordinance violation is not a crime, and ID is still required. You'd be surprised how easy it is to commit an infraction without knowing it. Not saying it's right, but it's reality.

Yeah, the cop was being a butthead. But once he does that - just show him your fricking license.

(Unless of course you have outstanding warrants and are wanted dead or alive)

Local paper reported that three people had been charged with violating stay at home order when they got booked into jail. The Facebook “karen’s” are out in full force saying, “no one should be out....etc”. One person was arrested for burglary and another drunk driving.

In another “karen” moment. A father, mom and daughter was playing ball at a park in Colorado. Someone called the police to report a large group of 12-15 playing ball. Police arrived and unless the group was listening to the scanner and scattered when they heard the call, it was three people from the same household. Colorado’s stay at home order is similar to almost every states. No social gatherings in large groups, parks open but no playgrounds. So what do the cops do? Do they radio in and say it is only three people? Nope, four cops get out and ask for the guys id. Colorado is an identification state if you’re suspected of a crime. Playing ball in an open park with your own family isn’t a crime. Guy was detained for ten minutes after being out in cuffs in front of his daughter (I think 6). Yes, the guy should’ve minimally told the officers his name, but since no crime was even being committed, no reason to even ask in my opinion. The city has reached out to offer an apology.

bonus, it was a former state police officer who knew the rules.

In other news, as long as the line isn’t long, I’m hitting the car wash today. They reopened.

This is where it's nice to have some acreage...park? My front yard is an acre of level, groomed lawn.

...but I understand that it would have been pretty hard to rush out and stock up on square footage in mid March.

I just ordered one bottle from Amazon. Would have been cheaper (per bottle) by the case, but 17 bucks (with shipping) for 150 gallons of cleaning solution is still pretty cheap. The restaurant supply place came to 22 and change with shipping.

You should have looked on Amazon a little more, I just ordered a bottle of 150 tablets for $10.90, arriving Saturday plus some Energizer AA & AAA batteries I needed.
