Common sense tells me that when I do a ride along with the Local PD, that I should leave my carry weapon at home. Is that what your common sense meter tells you as well?
Do you at least tell them where your throwdown is?Riders are prohibited from carrying at my department.
Yes. So much yes.
Riders are prohibited from carrying at my department.
Not all PDs have that rule tho. Yes, please ask the officer or shift sergeant.
I can't imagine any PD allowing a civilian to carry. Hell our OG doesn't even allow outside agency LEO's to carry.

I am prohibited from riding with anyone who prohibits me from carrying.
As a retired cop my opinion is if you can't carry during a ridealong, don't DO the ridealong.
Common sense tells me that i wouldnt ride along with someone I didnt trust to have my back or I theirs and that knowing department policy i would make sure no one ever seen me with a firearm or printing for the duration of my ride along so as not to force an end to said ride along. But if you think id be unarmed for a ride along chinese proverb says you ****ing crazy.Common sense tells me that when I do a ride along with the Local PD, that I should leave my carry weapon at home. If that's an issue it would be a mutual no ride along situation. I'm not going to put anyone into a situation they are uncomfortable with. I wouldn't ever ride along with just anyone
