There may well be plenty of sleaze to go around, but McDaniels talked one of the Cowboys assistants into turning down a promotion with the Cowboys to come work with him in Indy, then walks out on him. I think he saved the Colts from themselves, better off without him.

I think there are several assistant coaches, who had already quit their jobs and readied their own families to move to Indy. That McDaniels could so totally hose those people is astounding to me. If nothing else, he's proven that he's no leader. We can only hope that Kraft will come to realize that, in trying to screw the Colts, he really screwed his own team, when McDaniels is the head coach and shows what a selfish little punk he is.

Like you said, better off without him.

I find the McDaniels episode hilarious.

    Colts fans:

    "I hate the Patriots!"
    "The Patriots lost, they suck"
"Yay, we have the Patriot's OC for our head coach."
    "McDaniels is a douche."

I hear that housing costs in Boston are pretty high, but no worries, the Patriots are living rent free in plenty of heads in Indy.

Ballard just learned why you don't publicly talk (or leak to the press) any hiring/firing decisions until a contract is signed. Good luck convincing a new round of prospects that you REALLY want them.

Nonsense. Compare and contrast the Lions' handling of Patricia with the Colts' handling of McDaniels.

McDaniels had agreed to terms. McDaniels authorized the announcement. Then, while clearing out his office, he allowed the Patriots to talk him into reneging on the agreement he had made.

McDaniels had previously discussed staffing decisions, had made staffing decisions, and had lured coaches out of other positions to bring them to the Colts.

McDaniels' agent dropped him. McDaniels likely killed any chance he ever had of being considered as head coach in any city other than Boston.

Memory's can be short especially if you are or are associated with a winner.

Sort of karma coming back on the Isray move of the Colts from Baltimore. It may take a long time to come around, but eventually, what goes around does come back to bite you in the ass.

This is silly. The City of Baltimore was in the (immoral and unlawful) process of taking the Colts from Bob Irsay, under eminent domain. Irsay merely prevented his rightful property from being stolen from him.

Poppycock. If there was such a thing as Karma in the NFL, Gillette Stadium would be struck by lightning every 17 minutes.

Do you suppose he had to pay time and a half to get the movers to work in the middle of the night?

Wasn't the city going to take the team in the form of imminent domain? Yeah, I would move also as the family owned the team and made decisions for the team not the city.

Our money, in this case. A billion dollars to play here. Good deal.

I suspect economically and socially it was a good deal. Indianapolis went from being relevant 2 weeks a year in May to a national collegiate and pro sports mecca. It put the city on the map.
