I won't bore INGO with all the details but the net of it I switched from AT&T DSL due to reliability issues for home and Internet to Comcast on July 24. The installers inform us that the line will be buried within 10 business days. It didn't happen. I called Monday, Aug 12 and found out the work order was never put in and a new "expedited" work order would be created immediately and a crew would be out on Thursday Aug 15 by 5P.

No shock here but the crew didn't show. Called comcast and was told the freakin work order didn't get submitted until Wed Aug 14. A manager was to call me back from the Escalation Resolution department but it never happened. I called again today and worked my way up to a supervisor who informed me there was nothing they can do and the crew will bury the line on or before Aug 28. :xmad:

Several other customer service related issues here but I will just say these guys are the absolute worst company I've dealt with. They just straight up do not care.

I should note that my company pays for my phone and Internet but I can choose who I use. Not that there was any monetary appeasement offered and when I directly asked for it, was refused. If you're thinking about switching to Comcast DON'T!!!

So, any suggestions from INGO outside of Comcast or AT&T for home phone and Internet service providers? Who are y'all using?

Up on the north side, Comcast bought out the previous cable provider and their were some growing pains. I have to admit that I am pretty happy with their service overall lately. My internet is blazing fast 90% of the time. Occasionally it slows to about 5M/sec during peak but not often and mostly hovers above 15M/sec.

You have every right to be annoyed with failed service calls. I'd start insisting they compensate you for your time lost in dealing with this. You may get a few months free out of them.

Once working, though, I bet you'll like it better than AT&T...

Do a speed test on your new line. Att cannot match that.

Burying a wire is a one-time project. You have the rest of your life to get over it. Relax.

Aside from them not burying the line, the actually product has been fine. I haven't noticed it being faster than DSL but I have no complaints.

What I am furious about is how they treat their customers when they call in with an issue.

ever try mowing your grass around a 120' cable stretched completely across your backyard and up the side yard? How about the fact that today is my daughters 6th birthday and we have family and friends coming over tonight for her party? Yeah, have fun running and playing in the backyard just don't trip over the big orange cable line that was supposed to be buried last week but now won't be buried until Aug 28.

Call them back and ask who should be named in a lawsuit after a child/spouse trips and hurts themselves on their cabling...

    Seriously.

I have Metronet Fiber. It's awesome. Have to call to see if they will bump my speeds up since they are advertising 50down/25 up for people on their "triple play" packages.

Comcast is terrible. My most memorable part of their service is when I dropped my boxes off to them and cancelled my contract. Ironically, I had 3-4 in front of me in line doing the same thing.

Since we moved, we had to switch but I was VERY happy with Brighthouse. They don't serve where we moved to so now we are back to AT&T.

When my in-laws switched to Comcast no cable had ever been run to their house. Comcast tried to charge them $3,000 to run a line from the pole to the house. They went through the same installation song and dance. It wasn't installed until more than 2 months after initial target date.

They ended up not paying the 3 grand, but I think it cost them close to $900 just for the install.

I have Brighthouse but their customer service is terrible too. Their website is a pain in the rear as well.

no way I would pay that. What a joke of a company. We have directv for our TVs and have been very pleased its them. Too bad their Internet offering is AT&T.

I have Brighthouse here and I love them. Rarely do I have issues with my service and when I do their customer service has always been phenomenal. Any time we've ever had a service request (only a few times in the 2 years we've used them) they've had someone out the next day. They've always shown up on time and been able to fix the problem. I've had Comcast in the past and quite frankly I think they suck. I also love the fact that Brighthouse doesn't require a contract to get a certain rate. And your rates don't change every few months like with Comcast.

we had Comcast for a few years in our old apartment in Indy. After several instances of Comcast wrongfully overbilling us, we finally decided to get rid of their services. We went without cable for a year until we moved out of Indy into our current home. We decided to give Comcast another shot (it was that or dish). AND AGAIN they started wrongfully overbilling us! It was almost laughable! We instantly cancelled (and I made their sorry a**es pick up the equipment the 2nd time around!). We waited for ATT Uverse to finally come to our neighborhood and we've had it for years and couldn't be happier with it. I always tell any Comcast subscriber to be extremely vigilant in studying your Comcast bill! It's usually wrong!

what it all comes down to is, what do you use your internet for? If you do a lot of streaming video, the faster the better... If you only surf the web, DSL is just fine. If you do anything that's a bit more bandwidth-intensive like online gaming, stay away from AT&T/Verizon's DSL... It's even worse if you're out in the country. DSL slows down the further from the switching station you are, and how many other people are in between you and that station. Cable doesn't have those problems.

Comcast's customer service BLOWS, we all know that.. sadly (at least where I live) I have 2 options for internet. Verizon's DSL or Comcast. I've had VERY few problems with Comcast and my internet speeds are screaming fast... meanwhile my Verizon (I think they're called Horizon now, I dunno I stopped getting mailers from them) was constantly going down or incredibly slow... i'm talking sub-500kb/s slow... This is just my experience with the two.. I'd take bad customer service with an exemplary product over bad customer service and bad product any time...
