I'd get a full spring over an add-a-leaf.
Without air tools putting them on an old XJ can be a bit of work, possibly hassle.
If going to do that much, might as well just do it right the first time.
Not made of money, but busting my ass (knuckles and other) working on an older rig put together with top notch Chrysler fasteners............my time is worth something.

I helped a buddy add a leaf without taking the main leaf off the jeep. Big heavy duty c clamps are your friend.

An add a leaf doesn't do crap for the weak stocker XJ spring's eyes.

A rear spring change is your better friend ;)

Just sayin' (in prev post) that blind pockets can be fun. No biggie, but can be a showstopper on the install if no welding gear around (nut break free inside pocket during bolt removal attempt).

I did a 3" leaf spring and later added a 2" block for total of 5" and the lift springs held up fine, arch wise. One did break a leaf down in the pack and Procomp sent me a complete new one (free replacement). Took those off my dead '90 silver XJ a couple yrs later and put them on my black '88.

I've been thinking of going out and checking this 2011 JKU Rubicon out. I'm loving the color, Cosmos Blue.

But from reading on Jeep Forum, the general consensus is that it's better to wait for the 2012-2014's. Simply because the 3.6 is WAY better than the 2007-2011 3.8.

Then the 2012's are having head problems.

So I dunno. It's just so pretty :D

Haven't heard about the head issues...

The 3.8 really wasn't the best choice of engine for a Jeep. No low-end torque. With deeper gears, it would have been fine. It really needs to rev to make power. I've heard tons of folks trading from the inline 6 to the 3.8 and HATING it. A manual transmission might make it tolerable, and an aftermarket tuner would wake it up.

Now, the 3.6 is a different animal. Much broader powerband, and more of it to boot.

Would that one match your eyes? :D

I'm hanging on to my 4.0 but you kno what, even though its old technology, it's better then the new stuff coming out

Got a question...my xj keeps acting like going to die as if I were running out of fuel, except I just put fuel in. Been doing this last couple weeks...

    Thoughts?
