I went out today for about an hour and a half. I found 12 pickable Grey's and left about 5 dozen more to grow. The ones I left were only about an inch tall so ill let them have a little more time. I found them in Madison county near Pendleton.

Stupid question...what does one taste like? I like black truffles, but hate any other mushrooms...please don't say it tastes like chicken! :)

Once sunlight hits them they growing process stops and will not start again no matter how long you leave them sit, so pick them and enjoy.

Well I went out again today. I thought my chances would be pretty slim but why not go and enjoy the woods. To my surprise I found 18 more. They are up in Madison county, at least where I hunt.

I found 38 white ones on Monay in Bedford. Man, they were GOOD. Still no black ones. It is strange, because the blacks usually come up about a week before the whites.

I am convinced, that there is NO such thing as Morel Mushrooms.:xmad:

Is it possible that an area of woods is TOO damp to produce morels??? This is my first year looking and hunting morels, so it could just be technique, and not having a trained eye for them

I have always pondered the possibility of training a dog to sniff them out. If a dog can sniff drugs, why not morels?

In the meantime, I have a little brother who can find them blindfolded and is horribly allergic to them.:yesway:

They're up thick in Central Indiana now. I found 47 darks this morning just South of Indy. My cousin found 63 North of Greencastle.

6lbs of yellows and greys in the last two days. They are up good but are very patchy. If you find em you find a bunch but a lot of dead space in between. West central Indiana.

I came up empty today in Madison County. It was my first time ever looking and a nice day for a walk in the woods.
