Contact one of the site supporters. Your admission of a lack of knowledge is refreshing. Lots of folks are ready and willing to get you up to speed.

Never forget, that for one thousand dollars and an egg salad sandwich, I will teach you every thing you need to know. I take Visa, MC, and Discover. I am serious. PM me.

You would probably be better off with one of the pros that do it for a living. But if you want to throw your money my way, I will certainly take it.

I know what you mean, you might need a jumping off point - so to speak. What do you do at the shooting range as far as a challenge? Can you extend the range on the shot, try to perfect your shots. Marriage will not help that - it will only scramble your brains, no pun intended with the egg salad sandwich bit. Marriage can be great or it can drive you to drink, either way if you get married the woman will probably drive you drink. There is an old saying everyone knows what a man is thinking, but only god knows what a woman is thinking. Even she doesn't know what she ----- never mind.

Bowling pin competition is lots of fun and adds a little stress factor. If gambling was legal, I would suggest adding stress by shooting against someone for a buck or a beer per pin. Or just a good friend on paper plates. Not the same as the real deal, but no competition is. Bowling pins are also roughly the same size as the vital areas.

For me, bowling pins are more fun than other organized sports and quite informal. Even more fun, and useful, when shot with an unmodified carry gun. Any of the competitions will help your aim and gun-handling.

If new, check the stickies for info on current carry and defense law.

Although running or jumping is not involved, www.appleseedinfo.org has an excellent marksmenship clinic along with a accurate history lesson to go with. Want to shoot your rifle accurately enough to score hits on a man sized target at 400 yards? Appleseed is your ticket.

I would like to thank everyone for that advise. I understand that training is something I souldn't go ceap on... but $1000 maybe a little much. If you want an egg salad sandwich too I'll warn you it would be cheap cuz i spent all my money on training.

Acyork50~ i think i do okay shooting under strees since i take my fiance shooting with me :)

Sticky~ Thanks for the info about bowling pins. i was interested in doing that but i missed the date.

MUDCAT~ where are those places located at? im located in the Indy area if theres one nearby i would love it.

23MAR03 ~ thanks for that info, i have a marksman rifle and i would love to learn to shot at that distance

Here's one of the best deals you'll find in the state right now (at least my opinion)

Other than that, we've had this discussion before, everyone wants to just jump right in to running and gunning training. You need to build a progression of skill sets that will help you build the skills you need as efficiently as possible.

The first thing you need to do is evaluate where you're at, and where you want to go. It's a lot different to train to be a GM in competition than to be able to defend yourself in a dark alley.

Once you've set your goals, do a little homework on the classes offered on this site. I think at this point, a good portion of the classes in Indiana are being posted here.

Here are some of the discussions we've had in the past on training.

    https://www.indianagunowners.com/fo.../7008-a_discussion_on_types_of_trainings.html

    https://www.indianagunowners.com/forums/tactics_and_training/6924-software_training.html

A little dated, but still good discussions.
