I finally made this show yesterday afternoon. Not a bad show. Only $3 for parking and a 3 day pass is $15. Nice to see ammo prices stabilizing more. Was able to pick up needed ammo at a couple bucks less than Walmart and better name brands too. The British Radway 160 round ammo can at $69.99 seemed like a fair deal. Even the 200 round German battle packs for $89.99 seemed fair as well. I know back in the day you could have gotten South Afician 140rnd packs for $39 but gas & food was cheaper too. As for gun deals there was some that I should have popped on. Hopefully they'll still be there on Sunday afternoon. ;)

Was good too see some wheelin and dealin there. Most of the smaller shows I hit the prices are just outrageous for the most part and nobody is buying nor selling.

One of the better parts of the the show was where I ate after wards. Stop at some little fish fry dive where they serve you thru a bullet proof window. And the catfish steaks were excellent.

I went today around 9am and didnt think the place was too crowded. Around 11am it started to get pretty busy but I found if you just waited a few minutes lines would clear out. Came back after lunch (cause my friend had to be home) and it was smooth sailing. Got a great price on a Beretta PX-4 Storm SC in .40 and some mags for my XD guns :rockwoot:. Other than that didnt really see anything too exciting. Funny how some dealers will bring in junk and mark it up to see if someone bites.

I got a RIA 1911 9mm for $399. Best I could find online was 402. Walked the whole show and only 1 table had them in 9mm. I got a 8 shot mag extension from TSG, and almost bought a Remington 870 tac for $350 i think it was, about 5 tables down they had them for $550. Got some ammo for me and my dad. Impulse buy was a guy selling a rubber magnet holster, I got 2 of them for $35. I talked to a few INGOers( theweakerbrother offered me a preview of his banana hammock but I passed) and tried to talk to a few others but most of them were BUSY making deals. I wanted to get a Glaco King Tuk but not for $80, Cabelas has them for $50, plus I have a bunch of cabelas points I can use and get it for free.

Only DMF I smelled was a guy in a cut off shirt that looked like he hadn't showered in a few weeks.

Overall I didn't think it was that crowded and was a good show!!

Picked up an Aimpoint ML2 for 350.00 with a Larue mount and a few .308 battle packs, GI cleaning kits for my fathers M1 garand's and M1 carbine. Other then that I didnt get a chance to get a target stand from Bobcat or any goodies from tyler34 since my ride was in a hurry :xmad:.

Check out the booth with the huge "CLIPS" sign, will be in the room to the far left.

You cant miss it. Its huge!!! Look for the Corn Dog place. Its right next to it. My buddy picked up some PX4 Storm mags there for $30 or $35. I bought the PX4 Storm and forgot to get mags. Didnt want to pay another $3 bucks to turn around and go back in. :(

I have read through this thread and the other thread about deals at the 1500. Seems its worth depends on how much you want and what you want. If you enjoy shopping, this is your parade. If you prefer to do your business and hit the road, this probably is not the place for you.

One advantage may be that you can handle more weapons here than anywhere else. I have been looking for a lever action rifle for a couple months. Most of the local shops that sell them have locks on the action so you cannot try them. Today I was able to test the action on a Marlin 1894C, a Marlin 1894 Cowboy and a Puma 92 Scout at H & H here in the Fort. I was surprised at the difference in the action. The Puma was the best by far, but I think I will go with the Marlin Cowboy. Its action was not as good as the Puma, but far better than the 1894C, and I like the octagonal barrel—and it came in Stainless Steel. I would not have known difference if I had not been able to try it. So, if one can actually fondle the weapons at the 1500, I can see there might be advantages to fighting the crowds and paying the extra fees for parking and entrance.

Still, it's a gamble. You pay your money, invest your time and take your chances. To each his own, I guess. Thanks for the "splaining" folks.:ingo::)

    I liked it

I thought the Gun show was really good, but my wife was in the market for a nice S&W snub nose 38. She found one at a good price from Plainfield Gun store. There was a ton of ammo for sale - also got some of that.

It has been a few years since I've been to the 1500.

I knew about the crowds, the stink, the prices, etc.

All said, it wasn't too bad. Lots to see, and I fell in lust all over again with some things. Namely the Springfield socom scout among other things. I can't believe I didn't buy that OD green one Midwest has (or had for all I know). I might just have to go back tomorrow and get it.

There's a lot of good stuff there. That's an understatement, of course.

Yeah the crowds suck, the parking sucks, the admission price sucks, but like the posters before have said if you know how to go about it you can find really good deals. I enjoy seeing several friends from days gone by and doggone it I'm buying one of those old "Fallout Shelter" signs (if the guys still has one). Reminds me of the good old days when we used to jump under our desks and "duck and cover". :patriot:
