Plywood Donation for the Range (WINAMAC ONLY)
DNR can only put new plywood up on Mondays. Our group typically leaves the plywood HEAVILY damaged once we are done. (Tons of shooting :D).

DNR advised that the State of Indiana has tighten their funds so they (range) can not always put fresh plywood up. The range master has been very thankful for it. (Suspect this has helped with us having a "food area" on the 25 and 50 yard range.) As such I would like us as a group to be able to do this again. The plywood must be full size 4'x8' in size ANY thickness. Wooden post should be 3" to 5" diameter and 6' in length.

    Donations in 2010: 26 plywoods
    Donations in 2011: 37 plywoods & 16 post (to-date)

    NWI INGO Plywood/Post Person: Jediagh

This person will be in charge of taking the plywood/post to the event. Jediagh will either meet with the person before hand to provide the funds to purchase the items or reimburse the person at the event.

    Current Pot: $69.67 (jediagh)

    FAQ:
    What should I bring?
Your firearms and some ammo, off course! Also your PAPER targets ONLY, a staple gun (to hang the targets), eye & ear protection.
No full-autos are allowed on the range but everything else (handgun, rifle, shotgun) is.

What should I bring (Non Firearm Related)?
Here is what some members bring in addition to their firearms to help them during the day.
    - Bug spray! Bug spray!
    - Sunscreen
    - Folding/Camping Chairs (there is only one two-person bench on the 25' yard range)
    - Shooting mat
    - Binoculars/Spotting Scope
    - Small tool kit to adjust sights/quick fix firearm
    - Eye and Hearing protection

    - Staple gun to hang the targets to the wooden boards
    - Bug spray! Bug spray!

I see member "John Doe" is bringing his 1911, can I shoot it?
Most members bring their guns to shot and allow others to shoot them as well. If you see a gun on the list you would like to shoot, ask the owner (post it) what type of ammo brand they like so you could use it. Some members supply the ammo. Be considerate of others and bring some more if you can so everyone can try the firearm.

What about safety after all this is a public range? I have heard bad stuff about public ranges.
While the range is open to everyone typically what occurs when we go has been that we (NWI INGO) end up taking over the 25 and 50 yard ranges. This in turn has helped us to police ourselves and ensured our own safety. We setup a table with the "NWI INGO Range Rules" and just ensure that any new shooters we have with us are being supervised.

Do I have to shoot only from the bench sitting down?
There are no rules for "how" to shoot at the range.
    You can shoot by...
    - sitting from the bench
    - standing from the bench
    - sitting cross-leg from the bench
    - laying on the floor from the bench

We have even shot the boards CLOSER than the 25 yards (ie. we walk up about 15 yards from the boards) as well when we control the full 25 yard range. We keep a few people at the benches to ensure that no one is touching any of the firearms there while we have shooters downrange shooting.

What size plywood can we donate?
The range can only take full sheet 4'x8' plywood in ANY thickness due to how it is nailed to the wooden post they have.

What size wooden post can we donate?
The plywood is nailed to two 3" to 5" diameter and 6' in length post to keep them up. The 25 yard range uses a total of 6 post, the 50 yard range uses a total of 12 post, 100 yard range uses a total of 8 post and the 200 yard range uses a total of 2 post.

What is the cost to come?
The range is FREE as it is a public Indiana range. The cost you will incur is for the ammo you shoot (most people bring their own) and for the targets you bring to shoot. FREE targets can be downloaded from the internet (see below). A couple people usually bring staple guns and are willing to share so there is no cost to hang the targets.

Bring eye/ear protection. If you can bring some snacks to share, if not that is OK too. If you have an odd caliber toy then its generally considered good form to bring extra ammo for that gun and share that but its reasonable to limit the amount of shooting if the ammo is expensive.

The group (INGO NWI) as a whole gives a donation of plywood to the range each time we go. The chairperson for the plywood pays for the plywood and brings it and takes donations from others for it.

I live in IL and would like to attend the event. Can I bring my guns as well?
Everyone is welcome to attend. Winamac is a free Indiana public range.
Effective 01 JUL 2011 a new Indiana state law allows a person who does not have an Indiana Handgun License to transport a handgun from his/her home to a gun range if the following two conditions are met:
    1) Handgun is unloaded
    2) Handgun is in a secure container (ie. locked)
As such IL residents you can now bring your handguns to the IN range in addition to your long guns.

    How often are these held?
We hold them once a month from MAR to NOV. We have done the following months:
MAR, APR, MAY, JUN, JUL, AUG, SEP, OCT, NOV 2010 (9 events)
MAR, APR, MAY, JUN/JUL, AUG, SEP, OCT 2011 (7 events to date)

    I should be there.

Bringing the BBQ grill and, because it is October, BRATWURST, buns, etc.

SOMEBODY needs to bring some home-made pumpkin pie!!!

If the new "AR-GOLD" trigger arrives (been 2 weeks, still waiting) then I'll have my yellow tactical 6.5 Grendel/AR15 on the line with that new trigger installed.
The new AR-GOLD TRIGGER just ARRIVED a few minutes ago. Installation scheduled for this week, possibly tomorrow. I want to watch the new TV show TERRA NOVA tonight.

I don't think I've bought more than a couple handguns this past week, so I may not have any new compact 1911s to try out. Guess I'll have to dig around and see what I can find.

At very least there will be a brand spanking new DETONICS COMBAT MASTER coming with me. The very same one that Joe touched with his sticky fingers.

I may also have an exceedingly rare 38 Super MK VII (the so-called CIA model) Combat Master with me. Its very possible it is a 1 of a kind, or certainly 1 of only a handful in the world. What makes this one so shockingly rare is the odd caliber and the non-standard finish on this gun is not the normal MK VII finish. And since its not a virgin . . .

Also if anyone has an old broom they would like to donate to the range that would be great. The ROs said they would like brooms and "plastic" dust pans if possible. We don't get any I plan on using some of the plywood money donation to buy some cheap-o dollar store brooms and dust pans for them as they (ROs) asked for it.

    --AMMO/HARDWARE QUESTIONS--
    @ Kitty
Type of equipment? and ammo status please.

    @ the only Qualk & badmac183
listed as maybes for now. If you confirm I'll add your equipment to the list

    @DaveGrave
    ammo status for your items?
    - will have ammo
    - will have some ammo
    - please bring ammo

    --FOOD QUESTIONS--
    @ShootinDave & Davegrave & melensdad
I can also bring whatever else is needed as far as food/drink-just let me know

Not sure what I'm gonna bring as far as food goes yet.

Bread (hot dog and burgers) we are very good!
Hot dogs and brauts we are very, good!

Burger we have 32 left for the next 2 meets. So meat wise we are "ok" some more would be great so this is an idea.

Ketchup we have 1 bottle 3/4 full, 1 mustard NEW, 1 mustard (1/2), 1 new jar of relish.

Chips we have some small bags. One or 2 big bags is more than enough.

Drinks is where we are low.
We will have the usual 2 gallon sarcasm drink, a case of coke (almost new think it's missing 5 cans). Water (cooler or bottles) is always a big win. Plus more soda. We did real good with some 2 liters last time as people tended to go for those more than the cans. :)

Desert wise I know we will have cheesecake (thanks to Kitty) IT WILL NOT HAVE BACON ON TOP HOWEVER. :xmad::laugh: Cookies seem to be a favor as well along with the mini-donuts.

The potato salad, cole slaw and macaroni salad I'm going to say are no-nos unless someone really like it. Last meet was the 2nd time someone brought them but the containers are just too big and we ended up with 3/4 of each! Way to much.:(

NO plates, napkins, forks, or cups we have a LOT of those thanks to all the donations this year.

Ammo status on anything I bring is as follows, If you want to fire a few shots just to give something a try, I've got you covered. For instance if you want to shoot the Keltec, no need to buy an expensive box of 50 when most people just want to shoot a few shots.

If you want to put any of my guns thru the paces and really give it a solid test drive, please bring some ammo. Any factory ammo is fine, steel case or brass, hollow point of FMJ...it's all gravy baby.

.22 is cheap so I don't have to be so stingy...plus everyone just has open boxes of .22 laying around like some kind of crazy 70's party, but with ammo where the blow would be. :D

Jedi: Probly easiest for you to just use "Dave will have SOME ammo". But this is a "how to borrow Daves guns" guide for all to reference. :) It seem so be the attitude shared by most there. :ingo:

:ingo:

Will put. That works for me too. Right now I am a maybe. Hope to make it. Wont know tell the night before.

Oh and I'm bringing all the stuff to color in the lettering on guns. The colors I have are White, Black, and Yellow. If you want another color get some Sally Hansen Extreme Nail polish in the color you want.

Jedi, I know you want some pink on your guns.
