    Hello,

Years ago Grandpa had a small gun collection. It consisted of an M1 Garand, an M1 Carbine, and a M1903a3 or -a4 (it was 'scoped). These were his various rifles from WWII.

When he was in Texas one year, they were stolen.

I am gaining a small inheritance from his estate, and as he intended for me to get one of these weapons, I feel he would be happy that if I were to buy one using part of this money, even if it isn't one of his personal weapons from the War.

I should have cash in hand in the next few days, and I will be considering all offers.

As well, if I can get the serial numbers from the Elwood PD (provided they have them, of course) I will post them and pay a finder's fee equivalent to the value of the rifle to anyone who may have knowledge of where one of these stolen weapons may be.

Thank you, and again, I'll consider all offers. I'll d/l my PM box a bit later and clear it so it doesn't get clogged.

    Thank you again,

    Josh <><

If it shoots and looks decent, I'm game.

I don't know enough about them to comment on the manufacturer.

It must function perfectly and not have rotten wood. Other than that, it would be carried as a knock-about gun, as Grandpa believed and I do believe that a firearm should be used, not stuck in a safe and forgotten.

I think all I would ask is that it be made in the USA - no foreign replicas if they're even out there - as that's what Grandpa would want.

So in short, something that shoots well, has OK wood (full stock), and is made in the USA.

I'm looking to come in around $500, but may go a bit higher, depending.

    Thanks,

    Josh <><

P.S. I'll let this serve as a daily bump. Looks like I'll have cash in hand in a week or two, and if nothing here piques my fancy by then, I'll start looking around at the gunstores, or put my order in to the CMP for a field grade ($595). J.S.
