Life is too short to worry about whether the government is checking what stupid videos I post onto Facebook. I think people have gotten entirely too paranoid about stuff like this. I'm not posting everywhere I go, I'm not posting addresses or credit card numbers, I'm not posting anything I wouldn't own up to, so who gives a crap? If the government wants to see stupid pictures of me and my friends, go for it.

I agree, posting on here is just as bad if you want your privacy.
For those of you who are reallllly paranoid. Since my family use to run gaming servers and host websites, someone with administrator access can view your PMs. We had used the feature on on a few occasions to squelch forum drama.

My Facebook I keep private, maximum settings, friends only. And only have people I know in real life on there. It's the best way to share pictures and keep in touch with family overseas or in other states.

Facebook is a WONDERFUL way to keep in contact with distant family. It truly is. That and Skype. I give 2 craps about being monitored. Frankly I don't kid myself in believing I'm important enough to spy on. Saying that you are labeled "terrorist" for paying cash for a cup of coffee are alarmist words. It's really not that deep.

Today I ate bacon, prayed to God, and looked at 1911's online. If anyone from the .gov is reading this, here's a nice big 2-finger salute your direction, since all the emoticons for what I'd like to send your way have been disabled.

Facebook is handy for keeping in touch with my entire family as they all live out of state, I could really care less if someone is looking in on what I post.

The link below is about Todd Starnes and says a lot about the climate of Facebook.
Starnes: I Got Banned From Facebook | FOX News & Commentary: Todd Starnes

I've seen this first hand on my page. I (along with a few other public progun pages) got inundated with a bunch of gun haters trashing women and calling them every name in book.

I reported a couple of the more vulgar one and guess what? Facebook said they didn't violate any of the rules.

One went so far as to say... well I can't post it here without risking an infraction so click the link if you are curious- https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...386121.-2207520000.1372709113.&type=3&theater

An admin of a very large page referred to these types of people as "trolls" and was sent an official warning and said one more infraction like "that" and they would be suspended.

Facebook hates us. We need a viable alternative and I'm not going back to myspace!

I'm a happier Facebook person because I DON"T post politics or talk about politics and ignore those friends that do nothing BUT talk politics.

I've made a few international friends with my scuba diving travels and FB is the easiest way to keep in touch. Mostly, the news feeds and games keep me coming back.

Of course I do, but don't you think it is in your best interests to make your electronic footprint as small as possible? Maybe I'm paranoid, but given the last year I don't think so.

Actually I want my electronic footprint so large that if the government does come for me, I will have enough friends in enough places that the legacy I leave will be well known, and the reasons the government came for me will be shown in all their socialist ugliness.

    Thread moved.

OP, do you not think INGO is monitored? You still post and read INGO, right? Is there a difference that I'm not seeing?
This. Can't say how many times someone self-righteous know-it-all blasts FB on INGO. Can we say hypocrisy?

    Might be work for you.

Oh, meant to add that FB as my main news source when I had a real account. Now I just use it for maintaining connections with groups/businesses that only communicate via FB. Which is better than spamming my inbox with emails every day.

Set your profile to private and limit all of your online activity to Friends only. If "they" are using anything else to get information about you, you have more to worry about than simple OPSEC.

I have never used, nor will I ever use Facebook or twitter. I'm too old to get into that nonsense. I rarely comment in any forum. I mostly just read and that's enough for me.
