Planning a hunt in Alaska this fall. Flights out of Indy put me in Fairbanks at midnight and are more expensive than above two.
Which airport is easier check in a rifle?
Any Kentucky or Ohio laws I need to know about transporting a firearm?
Cincy airport is actually in Kentucky so laws will be same as louisville. Rules can vary by airline. Basically in locked case, unloaded, ammo in separate case and must be declared. Check with your airline for specifics. I've flown a few times with firearms and never had an issue.
I've flown out of Louisville as a Nevada resident a couple years ago. Take a hard sided lockable case, declare it at the counter and they'll help you take care of everything. They won't hassle you or anything (other than the regular nonsense you have to go through).
I fly out of Chicago, take a hope out of Indy to Chicago. That way your gun is already in the system. You my want to put insurance on them, gets better control on shipping. Been to Alaska 6 or 7 times. You can get a lot more flights out of Chicago than either of the other airports.
