Yeah.... Exactly. What was funny when I ordered some, I didn't even order from Streicher's, but that's where it ended-up coming from. :dunno: So.... I'll order more directly from the source next time!!! :yesway:

Have you shot these much? Same to you Chris, with your 165gr.
Is there less apparent recoil with the 200 and 165 grainers?
I can only assume that by virtue of the design, feeding issues would be the same as ball?

I used to carry Cor-bon 165gr. +P in a Firestar M-45. Then I tried 230 gr. Hydra-shocks and found that they were more accurate out of my Firestar.

what kind of JHPs do you guys carry in .45? im going to be buying some jhps as soon as my supertuck comes in. i really like the federal HSTs because of the good weight retention and balistics.

    i was looking at these Ammunition To Go : 50rds - 45 ACP Federal LE Tactical HST 230gr. +P HP Ammo [P45HST1] - $23.95

i believe they are 950 FPS but i saw some golden sabers on doubletaps website that are around 1100 FPS. would it really make much of a difference for expansion? would it be worth going with a smaller 185 grain or 200 grain round for the added velocity?

    Currently, I carry Hornaday +P 230gr TAP.

Though I believe this to be more than adequate for self defense, I think the Federal HST 230gr [P45HST2] is better.

IMO, +P has no benefit over standard pressure loads in .45ACP.

I don't carry hollow points. I carry full metal jacket ball amo in my 45.

Carry my hand loads. Speer 225 grain JHP's with 4.9 grains of Bullseye. If they don't go off it's my own fault.

did winchester stop making the black talon ammo

Yes. SXT looks to be the same without the cool black coat on the bullet.
SXT are the next generation and are supposed to perform better anyhow.
I've still got a box of the black talon in .45

Around Indy carry (summer, spring, early fall): Remington 230gr JHP or handloaded Golden Sabres.
Winter around town: 230gr Ball (factory loaded, whatever I have on hand).
Traveling: 255gr LRN with 5.5 gr. Unique behind it or 185gr RN with a good dose of Titegroup.

With my handloads (rarely carried), I ensure all the casings are the same headstamp, all my usual match preparations made.

Someone told me that Winchester, after getting all the bad press for making the evil, scary Black Talon just changed the name to SXT or...

    Same eXact Thing

Don't know if that's true, just thought it was funny.
