What's in your home defense shotgun?

What shotgun ammo do you use for defense?

Birdhsot, 00 buckshot, slugs, non-lethal, buck and ball, a bit of evertyhing?

Also if you keep ammo outside of the magazine tube on the gun itself (side saddle and other carry systems), do you keep another kind of ammo or the same thing you have on the gun?

I wanted to make a poll but there are too many kinds of ammo.

Loaded with one or the other of the following buckshot depending on my mood when I reload it after use - 41 pellet 3" #4BK or 9 pellet 2.75" 00BK

A box of 1oz sugs resides next to the storage location.

870 with 4 in the tube, chamber empty. Side-saddle with 6(?) more shells...all 00 buck 2 3/4" shells with the exception of 2 of the shells are slugs in the side-saddle just in-case I need em.

Good question Sylvain. I'm interested to find out other options. Personally, I use 3 in the tube, empty chamber (mostly for the use of the pump-action sound as a deterrent) all 2 3/4" 00 buck.

6 + 1 of #1 buck (Federal LE132 1B) loaded in the shotgun, with slugs in the sidesaddle.

00 buck would be my second choice, and I keep a larger stockpile of that - since it is easier to find.

Good question Sylvain. I'm interested to find out other options. Personally, I use 3 in the tube, empty chamber (mostly for the use of the pump-action sound as a deterrent) all 2 3/4" 00 buck.

I use the sight of a large bore barrel pointed at the intruder's face as a visual deterrent, the only sonic detterent I use is the sound of the first shot fired, NOT the sound of the pomp.

By keeping the chamber empty you lose one round capacity in your gun and you give your position away by racking the pump, just something to think about.

I use a rifle for HD. BUT if I were to use a shotgun it would probably #2 shot with a full choke on the gun.

This in my home defense shotgun.....both have ammo in the side saddles

I have patterned about every 12g ammo out there and have found that out of a Remington 870 18" barrel smooth bore, these are the best for my purposes.

Ha suckers I got this cool shotgun from these really cool guys down south. They made it so I could shoot arrows out of it like a bow.

Really I run Federal 2 3/4 buck in a 930SPX. Ghost load 9 in the gun and 6 on the side.

Currently I'm running a Stoeger P-350p with 00 Royal Buck. I'm hoping to get a Rem870 tactical that hold 7 in the tube. That would be my ideal home defense shotgun.
