Being new to the state of Indiana I have not been Deer hunting in a long time. My first deer rifle was a Remington 760 BDL deluxe bought for me by my wife in 1967. I still have it. With no where to hunt now I fear my Deer hunting days are gone. The deer camp days where some of the best of my life.

I used my Parker WildFire XP during archery season. I used my newly traded for Traditions Pursuit XLT with 240gr. Shok-Wave's. I look to build another 12ga slug gun for next year. Those wet rainy day's don't go well with the ole muzzy.

.35 rem TC super 14, no porting- has a good jolt to forearm, but with Pachmayr Grippers is comfy. It's different, the recoil, and kinda cool actually :)

I could see it as a problem for folks with a bad elbow or wrist, maybe the elbow moreso, due to the straight back kind of whack.

My dad and I both hunt with Contenders.
    Mine's .357, pretty basic, but a shooter.
His is a 35 Rem similar to yours, his does have the muzzle break though. It's certainly a different recoil to it! Doesn't matter how his aim is though, the muzzle flash alone is enough to put down most deer...

Last couple of years, I've been using a CVA Scout rifle, 44 mag., with a Nikon 2x7 shotgun scope on board. Net result has been 3 shots, 3 deer in the freezer.
