This was how Brandon Lee was killed. The prop dept. guys were shooting live rounds the night before and left one in the gun. Poor safety practices. In stage work you cannot take any chances. Most guns used in film are blank firing only and will not fire a bullet because the muzzle is plugged. The gun will blow if someone tries to chamber and fire a live round. But some directors want to be able to do a close up shot of the gun and see the loaded rounds so they will use a real firearm.

I still have trouble seeing how somebody could accidently load "live" ammo in the pistol.

    It happens every day.

People get comfortable and then people get careless.

The Four Rules light is always on and always applies, even if you only have a "blank" pistol, or a "toy" or a blue gun. Follow the Four Rules and you won't have a problem, even when you have a problem.:D
