Purdue's newspaper is running a poll on their website close to the bottom of the home page, in the middle of the page. The poll question is "Do you support Texas' proposed law that would allow students to carry guns on campus?". Nah. That's just the newspaper staff voting early. Once the engineering school logs on, I'm sure it will swing the other way.

We all know it's much safer to huddle together defenseless in a room with no way out, rather than arm yourselves and at least attempt to eliminate a threat.

Also, it's illegal to murder, so why worry about arming yourself?

Any time I debate any of my peers about this they always end up just falling back on that everyone would have guns and that frat parties and active shooter scenarios would become shoot outs. Is there a single shred of evidence or even logic behind that assertion? No...but guns are scary.

Well now that you are no longer a student you can carry on campus. It's not illegal to carry on campus. It is against the rules for students and faculty to carry. I'm not a student or faculty member but when my daughter competes in fencing tournaments on campus I carry.

BTW when I voted it was overwhelmingly in favor of allowing student carry.
