    what about the 4th amendment? They can now see what's in your trunk without probable cause, without you even knowing it. What if they drive through your neighborhood, could they then be looking into your house?

    I wonder how it peers through metal, to see metal...

    Generally, you are looking at the timing of the reflection. You get two "hits" from the signal you send out. It also needs to adjust the weight it puts on the signal strength as the time from the pulse goes on, because going through the metal and such attenuates the signal.

    That is my understanding from researching this a few years ago.
