Hi, I'm relatively new here and don't have much experience with handguns (lots of experience with ARs and other long guns). I had traded a long gun several years ago for this 1911-A1 .45ACP and am looking to understand what it's worth if I go to trade or sell it at some point. And no, I will not sell it to you at this point (I don't have the privileges to do that here yet). I've looked on an online selling platform, but asking prices are all over the place.

The gun has very few rounds thru it. It's in very good shape. It does have combat sights if the photos don't show it well enough.

Appreciate any feedback you might give me. Want to make sure I'm asking and receiving a fair price when I walk into a gun shop.

If I'm doing something wrong in this forum by posting this here, I apologize in advance.

the "idiot scratch" will cause many to pass but beyond that it seems like a nice 1911. Those are quality and someone will buy it regardless of imperfections. IMHO you'd be lucky to get 700 and that's even with you having 2 mags + factory box.

That's an older original Loaded model, it has the much thicker (top to bottom) portion of the frame up front and the wider grip with almost no radius on the front strap. The thicker frame up front can make fitting in some holsters problematic. The beavertail has a good fit and the scratches on the stainless could be taken care of with some scotch brite. If you could get 650-700 i'd call it good.

Instead of directly selling it to a gun shop, consider having them sell it on consignment instead. I had a low end AR that I wanted to move along and USDS offered $350 on a trade for another gun. Instead of selling direct, I had them take it on consignment and it sold for $850. I netted about $730, which I was happy with.

$20 puts you in the classies game and supports this fine site. Get some .45acp and shoot that thang.
