I had one just outside of Batesville in the early 70s came at me. Deer season.
I was sitting at the end of a lay down log and the cat came at me running up the log. I smacked it with the 12ga and it took off. Adreneline rush

Considering that both parties went their own way, none the worse for wear, I'd say his judgement was spot on.

If he would have just stood up, or even just moved a little, that thing would most likely have taken off like a rocket. Pretty risky to sit still like that seeing how that cat was in attack mode. Cool video though!
