Accompanied an old friend and his wife to Camp Perry 04/06/13.
CMP store was not busy at all.
He was looking for and purchased an M-1 Garand.
He paid extra and got one that was classified as a "Special".
Folks at CMP were friendly and there were no hassles.
Nice looking rifle.I will try to get him to post some pics.

I'm hoping to go in a couple of months. What's the inventory like?

They had quite a few of the higher priced rifles $995.00 and up.
They said that they were expecting a shipment of the mid-range priced rifles
    which cost approximately $600.00.
They also had ammo for the Garand.
Only paperwork required for my friend who was an Army vet was:
Copies of DD214, birth certificate, and he had to show his VFW card.
He never shot a CMP program so this is what he had to show to obtain his riflle.
They also had .22 rifles and airguns if that interests you.:)
