Well, Marlboro Red's are now $5.16 at my local speedway. So I am going cold turkey, hopefully I can kick it. I always said if they hit $5 a pack I was going to quit.

I think that the only pack I ever bought was a quarter and I thought that they were overpriced then ;)

I tried it, I used an injector though. I still have some tubes left over. My reason for buying the setup was because red's were going up, and I figured I would give it a try. I have just decided, that I would be better off quitting.

My favorite tobacco was zig-zag brand.

I just get filters and a rolling machine, use the papers that come with it. It's faster, easier, and prerolled tubes are more expensive. I did it because $14 for a carton was cheaper than $3-4 a pack.

The American Spirit tobacco I found to be better because 1) it burns longer and therefore use less of it 2) it tastes better, even the after taste, and I hack less than with Zig-zag or JOB and 3) when it gets dried out it doesn't have that nasty stale taste like the others.

Bugler is just NASTY but it will hold you over until payday....

I quit 3 1/2 weeks ago. I didn't plan on quitting, I just got really sick. Too sick to really get out of bed. After missing 3 days of work and not smoking I figured I'd keep the streak alive. I still felt like crap on that 4th day but went to work anyway. Being a truck driver, I knew not smoking while working would be the true test. It was tough but I made it through. Every day gets a little easier. It's starting to leave the back of my head. I still get a HUGE craving after I have a few beers though, but still manage to stay away from them. I think of it as a blessing that I got sick. This Sunday will be the 1 month mark! :rockwoot:

As far as the government taxing cigarettes: If the government is going to tax something, I don't have much of a problem with taxing tobacco. Tobacco serves no other purpose than to addict the consumer and eventually kill through prolonged use. If you don't wish to pay the tax, then don't buy the product.

I don't see the parallel between taxing firearms or ammo/accessories and tobacco. The outcry of a tax on firearms would be too much for them to bear as they would be something specifically protected by the Constitution. Too many smokers and non-smokers alike enjoy their 2A right. Additionally, our right to bear arms serves an important societal purpose that is unique to America, the right for common citizens to defend themselves against malevolent characters that wish them harm. I just don't see a tax on tobacco being a precursor to a firearms/ammo tax. It would be a BAD move on the feds part.

..........but they lost any support from me the day one of them flicked a butt out the window which went through my sunroof and started a small fire in my back seat.

HA! Same thing happened to my cousins Honda CRX years ago.

What are the chances? We saw it go up and over the hood and thought
no more about it until we smelled smoke! That really burned his ass.

I have never been a heavy smoker, usually just when I had a drink or coffee, until my last tour of Iraq. Just haven't been able to kick it with my nerves being completely shot to s#it. Maybe I will have to take the drugs that the VA keeps offering me, since they will make me mellow and don't cost anything.

I stopped at my usual "filler up mart" today... Beer and smokes...
I paid 5.04 for a pack of Marlboro lights....
'Jeezus Priced'.... I actually hacked up a lung rocket when the girl told me the price.

Two packs of smoke's 10.10... 12 pack of Irish Red 9.99
Drinkin and smokin is going to kill my wallet before it kills me!
