My P229 has a rail and I think that the -1 means that any of them run the larger .40 sized mags. The 9mm focus on the P228 makes sense though

There's a used P229 RXP Legion down at USDS right now on consignment. Asking price is $1400 which seems high to me. The RDS has a dead battery and it has 10 round mags, both of which take a big chunk off the value. The RDS bothers me since a $5 battery would have made sense to replace unless it eats batteries. It does look to be nearly unfired though.

Pawn shop in Lafayette has a P226 in .357 Sig for $850. I offered the $550 that I paid for mine before transfer and basically got laughed at. $850 seems quite high. It did have the E2s on it and some new sights, but I don't think it was a $800+ gun. :dunno:

That is high. I'd say that the offer for $550 was about right.
I'd have gone a touch higher since it had the E2s and upgraded sights, but $850 is just robbery. I'll pick up a second as a backup at some point, but it probably won't be from any of the places in Lafayette.

I was pricing 9mm Legion RXPs and am thinking that the one at USFS is about $300 high. I also priced an RXP slide for a P229 and a complete slide minus barrel and spring is $549. I could scratch that itch for about $600 and chase down an M11-1 with the other $800

That does seem more economical. What're the major motivation for an M11-A1 if you have (several?) P229 gun(s)?

I'm curious how much difference phosphated internals like in the M11-A1 would make for an EDC in IN.

The M11 is rail-less and I just like that look

No rail in .40 from an FFL with what looks like E2s on it Could take the extra $200 for sights or what not. Still a jump in weight if wanting the polymer M11-A1 (I think I saw that on a list of differences somewhere). There's a few P229s in 40 from FFLs on AL. Mostly with rails, though.

Also, as WTB noted in the other thread regarding his rusted P10c, additional corrosion protection is rarely a bad thing
    True.

Picked up a "backup" P226 today in 40. I can now shoot in 9/40/357. Auction ended Sunday morning, paid late morning on Monday, picked up today. Has (somewhat dull) night sights, and is in good but used condition. The GB auction didn't mention the night sights (about half as bright as on my much newer CZ P-09's night sights). One mag. A smidgen under $525 after auction, sales tax, and shipping, and transfer free in case anyone shopping around. I'm content with it.

Also got an E2 grip kit in from Sig for a P226 in today, looking forward to putting those on one of them.
