Been thinking about buying a 5.5 barrel stainless steel verision.
Has anyone shot or handled it? What were your thoughts?
I handled one at MCF&G a while back. It seemed like a well made quality pistol, BUT, it rattled when I shook it. I don't like loose pistols.
Please tell us about your pistol.
BTW I was at Point blank indoor pistol range in Greenwood Saturday, they had tons of .22 rim fire ammo of most flavors.
    Merry Christmas to all!

Either something was slightly out of battery or improperly fastened to account for the rattle.
By all accounts, there are many things to like about this revision of the gun that started it all, Bill Ruger's original Standard pistol, especially the long desired simplified takedown.
I'm not in the market to get any more guns now, but this would be at the top of my list if I should change my mind and have the funds to do it.

It could be the mag drop safety? If that version uses one. I'd snap a mag in it and recheck it, if they will let you do that.

the mark 4's don't have a mag safety on them, that's one of the reasons they(mark 4's) have a better trigger pull than a mark 3

in fact, I think im getting ready to order a hammer bushing to remove the mag safety from my mark 3 (either a tandem kross or a volqartsen)

I stand corrected! I thought it didn't have a mag disconnect and that allowed the mag to drop free (unlike that mk3 that stays in), but it(mk4) has the mag disconnect and drops free!

    my mistake

According to Ruger's specs it does. :dunno: Jason867 is correct.

    I get that alot :-)

Also, if you look in the bottom of the magazine well, you'll see a spring loaded plunger on the side. It forcefully ejects the magazine upon depressing the magazine release button.

That's why the mags drop free, even when the gun is held sideways.

I am going to do away with it like Shootersix. It's a PIA, My mag has to be pushed in realy tight/firm to trip that thing. I hate it.
