    Isn't everything lightweight in space?

Weight, yes. Mass, just the same, so overcoming inertia will still be a thing. I would think they would want a little heavier weight to keep recoil from pushing them around, but lighter weight would help them get the rifle moving when they want to change location.

More likely they are concerned with mass/weight on Earth, and the cost to lift a given weight/mass to orbit. A quick google shows costs in the $15,000 to $25,000 per kilogram to get to low Earth orbit. Private launches, like Falcon Heavy, advertise more lie $7,000 per kilo. Still, not cheap.

You are 100% correct. I wasn't even considering that.

It makes it a funny thought to see one of those rifles go up for sale later.

List of parts with itemized costs = $2,100
Cost to get it into space = $56,000
I've got $57,100 in it, willing to sell for $25,000

    What Sandy Hook kids?

I remember when Gateway National Park was Sandy Hook. The Jersey shore is where they drum it into kids that you do n't fight a riptide.

You let it take you out to deeper water where the under tow lets you go and swim along the shore until you find a spot where the waves are not breaking.
