    Dinosoar Time with MM !

Picked-up one of my larger fossils. It's my first chunk of a Triceratops. Notably, a fairly large chunk of it's *frill.

*The frill of a Triceratops is made of fibrolamellar bone and is part of the dinosaur's skull. The frill is made up of elongated bones that look like a giant fan near the horns. The frill protects the Triceratops from predators like the Tyrannosaurus. The name Triceratops comes from the Greek and means "three-horned face.

The above photo is of the famous "Big John", the largest trike ever recovered. The red arrow shows a puncture in his frill .... probably from an attack by a T-Rex !

My piece is about 6" long, 2" thick, and weighs .... ummm, about 2 lbs+

Here's a crop of the bone structure. It's extremely dense, probably to provide protection.
