Due To Rain Shoot Rescheduled for Thursday December 2nd

    Marion County Fish & Game
will hold a special shoot on Thanksgiving Evening. We are planning a 50 bird 16 yard competition and a 40 bird (8 targets per post per team shot in two rounds) Piece & Protect competition. There will be guaranteed minimum prize money regardless of the number of shooters. Each event will have separate purses and you are Not required to shoot both events to qualify for prize money. We are planning to pay 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place in each event plus a 4th and maybe 5th prize which will be determined by a blind draw of all recorded scores with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place scores removed. Cost: $12 entry fee per shooter for the 16 yard event & $12 entry fee per (2 man) team for the Piece & Protect. Minimum prize monies for each event, 1st: $75, 2nd: $50, 3rd: $25. Additional prize money for each place will be determined by the number of entries. Ties settled by 25 target Shoot-offs in the 16 yd. event. High gun scoring for 16 yd. program. (i.e.: If three shooters tie for first the shoot-off will determine which of them takes 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.) Piece & Protect ties will be settled by sudden death elimination with teams shooting from the mid-field pad. Ties settled for 1st, 2nd, etc. with losing teams out of the money. (i.e.: If three teams tie for first only the prevailing team wins 1st place money. Of course they can decide to split it. Same for 2nd, and 3rd place shoot-offs.)

Blind Draw: The top three winning scores will be thrown out of each event and a drawing of the remaining scores will determine the 4th & 5th place prize money. If there is a tie for blind draw prize money the winners can either elect to split the prize or shoot-off to determine the winner, time permitting. As with the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place prizes, the more shooters we have the larger the purse.

A pitch-in dinner will also be available free to all attending. Since it is Thanksgiving Day and you should have all eaten well earlier in the day. We anticipate the pitch-in foods will primarily consist of finger foods, snacks, and deserts. You are more than welcome to bring something good to eat.

Per MCF&G 'kids shoot free' policy, children 15 and under wishing to compete will not have to pay the target portion of the entry fee. Kids 15 and under wishing to compete will pay $4 for the 16 yard event and $2 as a team member for the Piece & Protect event.

Finally, since there will be some wanting to shoot on this evening but not participate in the competitions, all events will take place on the north trap field and the south trap will be open to all for practice as any normal Thursday night.

Feel free to e-mail any questions or suggestions.

Sign up begins around 5PM. The 16 yard event will be first and will start no earlier than sunset so all shooters will be shooting in the same light. To comply with local ordinance agreements the events, and all shooting, will end at 10PM. If for some reason it appears we cannot complete any shoot-offs or both events by 10PM we may elect to either utilize the south field or split prize monies.

We will be throwing White Flyer Targets for both events.

Hope we see some decent participation for this. Not sure I can make it in time for the money events (no matter, really, as I'm not skilled enough to be top-3 by any means) but Dog Guy and I should be there to shoot the normal south house practice.

Note to self (and others): Buy shot shells TODAY ;)
