Local shop got in a bunch of Taurus model 82s. I got a moderately used fair condition Smith model 10 for $175 and a model 82 for $110. The Taurus looks almost new.

Are the Taurus guns good? I got a full underlug gun, but they had both there. Should I get a non full underlug gun? Is one better than the other? I was going to keep the model ten for myself and give the 82 to my roommate for his 30th birthday, so would you pick one up for yourself if you were me?

These are not CAI imports, they are from a US security company.

They are good enough, and at that price for non-imports, there isn't much reason to not pick one up. Full lug or not is a matter of weight and ability to conceal. There's no "better", is just depends if you want a heavier gun with less recoil and muzzle flip or a lighter gun that's easier to hide.

For $65 more, though, I'd be hard pressed to not get another Smith. Resale value will be better if you ever want to get rid of it, and they are generally recognized to have better triggers and be of better quality.
