I'm being increasingly tempted by the Taurus 8xx series, especially the 845. I really like the external hammer atop a polymer frame, the double stack mag (without making the grip feel too wide), its profile, and the fairly low price.

But... how do they shoot? Anyone have experience with these? (Does the plastic hammer cause any problems?)

And: Any other suggestions for a double stack, DA/SA, external hammer .45? (that are cheaper than a Sig P250?)

    plastic hammer

Sorry but I cant see were a plastic hammer is a good thing. I have no experience with the gun but a plastic hammer, how the heck is that going to last?:dunno:

Id shy away from it just for that reason, but its your call when its all said and done. Its just my experience that plastic (or space age polymer) is ok for things that don't get a lot of wear but the hammer is always banging against the transfer bar. I cant think how that would help the gun life.:dunno: :twocents:
