A good friend of mine has finally decided she wants to purchase a hand gun. She is familiar with guns, but is looking for a good place to shop. Where are the best gun shops in SW Indiana? This is out of my territory, so I need advice to give her. She lives in the Washington/Vincennes area, but goes to Evansville often. Who do you recommend?

Buck N Jakes in Boonville are good ppl. I lived in Washington for awhile and I don't remember any gun shops there.
Great. Thanks. That's 1. I'd like to compile a small list so she can choose. She use to go to a dealer near Bloomfield, but I think he passed away a few years ago. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Red Ghost out on the NW side of Evansville; small, individually owned; reasonable prices, and GREAT service! Terry is a heck of a guy to deal with, and will do you right!

I started to mention those, but chose not to. To the OP, do some searches here on INGO for reviews; I've found these two to be towards the bottom of the list. Please judge for yourself, but wanted to give you a heads up!

I recommend Jeff's in Jasper, really good prices.
I do not recommend Strictly Shooting in Evansville.
I do not recommend Rajo's, that guy is a jerk
The guys at Bucks n Jakes seem to be good guys.
There's a new store called The Right to Bear Arms, I have not been there but the couple who own are great people.

Where is the located, exactly? I would like to check it out.
Also, even though I should PM you, I see that you are an instructor.
    Do you have a schedule?

I haven't been there, but wondered how the shop was.
The owner Ryan is a great guy that I have known for years. He specializes in military/class III type stuff and there is a lot of neat old stuff in the shop. Usually has a few pistols on hand, some AOW's and several rifles/shotguns. He does a lot of gunsmithing as well. It's worth the trip out.

    I'm a regular customer at Jeff's.

He's not the lowest $ on everything, but competitive on just about everything. He has the lowest GLOCK prices around my area, and I like GLOCKS.

He also has good prices on Ruger and most Springfield Armory products.

I am eyeballing a Ruger sub-compact in 9mm at his store this week. What to do............

He will be straight to the point on his prices, and totally honest on what he thinks of your trade in fodder. He can be blunt, but never sarcastic. A pretty decent guy that values your business.

His employees are a bit more taciturn..........

He does have the lowest prices on Glock $485 last I saw (sans sales tax)
He does have a couple of grumpy old men working for him, but I kinda like them. There was another guy, maybe mid 30s who was a bit goofy.

The last group of GLOCKs I saw there were $479.00 + tax. This spring, I think? Of course, they were regular 9mm, .40 S&W models. I bought the only new G26 he had. Other models a bit higher.

    LOL.

Yeah. I know the guys you are talking about. The older guy with the cap and moustache, I like talking to him though he never cracks a smile. I actually bought his used S&W 5926. Great gun! Though heavy!!

The younger guy? Yeah, he's a little different.

Good shooting! And glad to make your internet acquaintance, sir!

ssgjason, someone posted the location of Red Ghost a few posts up, and in order to not threadjack, I sent you a PM for your other question about classes.

Dave's Gun Shop in Holland, IN is very good. My wife and her friends like it because there are two female shopkeepers which makes for a more comfortable purchasing experience for them.

Yeah, its on 13th. a few blocks north of willow street. Pretty good guys. I've bought a couple guns from there. One was overpriced, but he came down to beat another price I had. They're called Fort Sackville Guns now though.
