I have a jug of wc844and one of wc846. I do reload 5.56 with it now but am wondering if anyone uses it in other calibers. If you follow h335 and blc2 loads do they shoot well in other calibers? Not consistent enough for anything other than plinking? In the rifles, I load 222, 556/223, 243, and 30-06 for now. Thanks SB

The only cartridge you list that really won't do all that well with those two surplus powders is the 243 Winchester. It benefits from quite a bit slower powders.

Also, of the two you listed, the powder that is similar to Blc2 is most suitable for '06 loads...and that, with lighter bullets. I'm not saying it can't be used with 180's and up, just that it isn't even close to ideal. It's better in semi-auto rifles than it is bolt-actions, which benefit from slower powders and higher MAP's.

I've used a bunch of WC844 over the years, it's good stuff.

I read a blurb on another forum last week about a lot of WC846 that had been accidentally cut with some kind of extruded powder so dump some in a cup and check it out before loading it.

I've used both in .223, .308, and .30-06 (AR,M1A, M1) no ill affects and decent accuracy

Have you found any data on the changes that came with the introduction of WC842? I am very interested in recipies for all three of the calibers listed above for 842.

    Thanks. :ar15:

Not heard anything about WC842. Maybe check with Pats reloading, Hi-Tech or I bet our own Aszerigan from profire could answer it
