    I remember reading an article where a camera was put just outside a coyote den. The amount of deer fawns was in the 20's that were brought in for the pups. Not exactly sure how many but it was a very large number for sure.

    Interesting indeed. I had always assumed that smaller prey was the primary food for yotes with deer being a strong secondary. As large as the coyotes get around here, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that they take a high number of deer. A 120 lb doe wouldn't be much of a problem for a couple of 40-50 lb coyotes.

    Where I'm located, based on what the article stated, must be a group of yotes that have a large territory.
    My goat herd has never been affected or attacked by the coyotes around here. I guess there are enough deer to keep them fed. I may have to reassess my thinkng about herd protection.
